A Great Second Machine For Beginner/Intermediate...
I decided to buy a new sewing machine because my other one was a manual and super beginner-friendly (around £70 to £80) and after 4-5 years it had shown signs of failing the tasks I wanted to achieve.I have been practicing for a few years now and thought that a better machine would help my ability to be able to do more things at a better standard. It took me a while to decide on which one to choose but after a lot of homework, I came to a decision on this Uten Computerized Sewing Machine. One of the things that attracted me to it was the helping hand threader. This was because my eyesight is not like it used to be. Although it is something to get used to. It works sometimes and then not others. I think the main thing is, I have to get used to it. There are a lot of things to go through on it that I don't think I will use, to begin with. I only really want the straight stitch at the moment. I could use the zig-zag stitch for edging but I am looking into an overlooker. It is costly but it finishes off the edges much more professionally than a just zigzag stitch. When in business the professional look helps sales big time.INSTRUCTION MANUAL...The modern way of having instructions is normally going online and looking it up yourself. In this situation, there were 4-5 booklets that were in different languages including English. I'm old school and having the paper instructions is a big tick in my mind.IS THIS MACHINE COST-EFFECTIVE?I think it is worth its price. As many machines of this standard are £200 or £300 or more in some places. For the number of tasks this machine offers it could be a business builder in itself (if that is what you want). As it offers embroidery skills but I'm not sure at what standard they would be, as a proper embroidery machine that I also have been looking at is around £2000 or more in cost.CONCLUSION...I am very happy with this sewing machine to what I can use it for at the moment. From the information, I have collected from other uses they say it is a game changer for many tasks that I really have not learnt yet. So I am really looking forward to trying them out in the future. If you are a practicing beginner and not a very early beginner then I think this would be a fantastic sewing machine for you to progress onto.

Incredible for the price
If you are ready to upgrade from a beginner machine (mine was a manual Singer with 10 or so stitches) but not ready to pay £500+ for a fancy one from a popular brand then this machine is PERFECT. I have had this machine for 6+ months and any teething issues I had have long since gone, and were all normal for getting used to a new machine. The different stitches are easy to use, automatic buttonholes are fantastic and really clearly described in the instruction booklet. It's super easy to thread, works really well with the generic plastic bobbins. I mainly make garments, so I don't use the decorative stitches too much but everytime I have they have been great. I really love the start stop button for doing things like buttons holes or lettering. Two things worth nothing, that I hadn't seen mentioned - the straight stitch length maxes out at 4.5mm which is fine, but does make gathering stitches a bit tougher to pull together. Secondly, The lettering stitches are quite small even at their max size, I've only ever used them to personalise little makeup bags or pencil cases, which is fine but don't expect to make a feature of embroidered letters on anything larger.I will probably upgrade eventually, but mainly as I'd like something with automatic thread cutting but right now, that's not worth the price tag of bigger brands. Do not worry about not knowing this brand, the manual is super comprehensive and it is compatible with generic feet/bobbins etc - it's well worth the cheaper price to go with something less popular!!

Great Machine - very happy
Really pleased with this machine. I have been sewing for many years (including making my own wedding dress... twice!), and this is by far my most favourite machine, well apart from my hand-turn Singer. The machine is surprisingly quiet, which means my husband can watch tv without sounding like a kid in the back of a car, asking me "are you nearly done yet?" every two minutes.Being able to limit the speed is such a great feature, and I love the fact that if a pin goes under the needle, the machine automatically stops for you to sort it out before it causes too much damage. The ability to remove the foot pedal to control it from the machine is fab. This means that when you use the lettering function the machine finishes automatically at the end of each letter, keeping it neat and tidy. The size of the lettering can be changed, however, I have found using the largest setting is best, as when it's smaller some of the letters can be a bit hard to read in combination with other letters. The range of different stitches, is brilliant. Some lovely overlock stitches to deal with a wide range of fabrics, and the decorative stitches are pretty too. This is the first machine I have owned where you can drop the feed dogs, and you can do this very simply by moving a switch down and across. I am just experimenting with the freedom that this brings, and loving this new found way to use my machine. This machine is simply a joy to use. I was a little sceptical at first with it being a brand I didn't know, but for the price I thought I would take a chance, and I am so glad I did.One very happy lady here who is desperately trying to keep her daughter away from it, I mean I have 5 other machines so why can't she use one of them instead...

Decent
I thought I’d wait a month or so before writing the review so I could get used to using the machine. It is easy to thread. In fact much easier than my old machine.I have a feeling that it likes quality cotton as opposed to the cheap thread you can buy. It works better through the machine. There are lots of options on the machine from letters, button holes to different sewing patterns. Although it does do letters be aware that it’s not an embroidery machine. The letters are small but effective. It is lightweight. Really lightweight. A pleasure to lift. You can use the food pedal to sew or take the lead out and just press the button. I find it is easier to manage using the foot pedal. The only downside that I have noticed with this machine is that it does not like really thin fabric. If you start to see the thin fabric right at the very end of the seam it jams. It is better to start to see it almost an inch in, press the reverse button (still avoiding going right to the edge) and then continuing.Overall I am pleased with it.

Online Instruction Manual
I bought this for my wife as a "travel" machine, and she loves it. Its light, good quality, loads of stitches, and has a table accessory (my wife makes quilts)But one issue for us was that it didnt come with an instruction manual. Nothing. Nada. Thats because this was a "return" - we wanted to save a bit of money. We saved about £40 doing it this way. I thought maybe the original box was just damaged maybe. Nope. The original box was completely missing, but it was "amazon wrapped" in an amazon box with loads of bubble wrap to keep it secure. The cover was also missing for the same reason, and there was only one bobbin (installed in the machine - no spares) (there should have been 3), but that was ok too. My wife has plenty spare, as she has an almost identical looking (broken) Jenome machine, with bobbins the same size.If your manual is missing, or you have lost yours, you can find it online. But dont google the model number - 2685A. You wont find it. Instead google for the alternate model number - UEA021 . You will find this on the label on the back of the machine. The manual isn't hosted by UTEN themselves, but its on the archive.org website. I would post the URL, but amazon doesnt allow links to other web sites in reviews. My wife simply LOVES this machine. For the money, its really good value. Its light, and doesnt make too much noise. And I would recommend also getting the table attachment as well.

Great machine
Great machine, no problems with it at all, has done everything I asked of it and more.Made bag of all sizes and designs, put in zips, made alterations on trousers of various fabrics.Does not seem excessively noisy, stable and a great workhorse for the beginner especially.Loads of useful stitches and a handy instruction book.Purchased after a long break from sewing and was easy to set up and use.

*EDITED REVIEW: I LOVE(D) MY SEWING MACHINE... until it broke!
I bought this sewing machine in January 2022 and it's now September 2022, and I have no complaints. It was easy to use as a first time sewer and nothing's broke in the time that I've had it. And I've been sewing almost every week. Would recommend this machine. :)**EDITED REVIEW**Not a month after I wrote this review, I lowered my feed dog and when I went to raise it back up, it would not reengage. I watched every video and tutorial to attempt to fix the feed dog, however nothing worked. I ended up taking my machine in to get looked at and found out that the mechanism was fully broken. While I love this machine, this feed dog issue has been a complete hassle and this machine makes it hard to access the mechanisms that need fixing. I've looked at other reviews and it seems this is a reoccuring issue with the Uten Sewing Machine.
