Anyone know how this compares to "Liquid Smoke" type products? Old family recipe for beef jerky uses LS, which is not available where I live now.

This doesn't add any particular flavour that you could pin down, it's certainly not smokey, it adds more of a Umami quality to your food though.  I use it to add Umami to my smoked beef briskets as part of the marinade.

Why is there no ‘best before date’ in the picture? i'd like to know the best before end. thanks

I've had my bottles for some time .  I get six at a time and am already on my third bottle.

Best before date is on the label on the side.  Mine are all best before 10.22.

Are these the yellow topped one's? I am ordering them on line, and they send red top. They are not the same.

Yes, they are the same. Red tops used to be used only for the 'hot' version, but now red tops are used for both the original and hot versions.
