Can't go wrong with this series
I grew up reading this series and when my child turned 8, I was eager to share these delightful books with him. At 8, some things were hard to understand and he didnt know what every word meant. But thats OK! Even a good thing as he is learning new words. The story line is just as wonderful as I remembered it. My child and I are slowly making out way through the series.

A good read!
Redwall is full of adventure, courage, and true camaraderie! it reminds me so much of Robin Hood. What a fun book to read! I loved the rich descriptions of the food and the world of the Redwall abbey, it helped paint a picture of warmth and of a home full of loved ones worth fighting for. This is great adventure in two parts. One of Matthias on an adventure to find the sword of the great warrior mouse Martin. The other is of the many efforts of the abbey creatures protecting their loved ones and home from the books villain, Cluny and his horde. At the end the two parts come together in an unforgettable battle! I loved the villain Cluny the Scourge, he yelled and threatened and said some of the craziest things. He was also completely relentless. What an unforgettable character. Brother Methusala was also a favorite. He was a wise old mouse with a sharp mind and tongue. He reminded me of my Grandfather. I loved any scene he was in. Wonderful book to read and full of imagination.

Perfect item, delayed shipping
Shipping was a day late but other than that the book arrived in its described condition. The pages are pristine. The item price and shipping price are great for people who enjoy having a physical book in their hands or are just trying out a novel. I’ll be ordering this way if I happen to dive into another book series.

Great, easy read. Gives “Watership Down “ a run for its money.
Nice, easy read-you tend to forget that these are animals, not people. Already halfway through second book. (Which is a prequel.)

A classic
I first heard of the Redwall series when I was in college, and my roommate gave it to one of her brothers for Christmas. For the next few years she'd rave about new books as they came out (and then we both moved away from each other). So a couple of decades later, I got this one. And loved it. And promptly bought most of the rest of them, supposedly for my kids, then 12, 10 and 5. Supposedly. They're all on *my* bedroom bookshelf. The Redwall series has that sort of feel that classic fairytale adventures like The Hobbit and The Wind in the Willows do. Although not set in England, there is a very English feel to them, from taking tea to the "Dibbuns" having a nurse/nanny to some characters apparently being gardeners or cooks. As the series progresses, we meet a character (more than one), who are The Very Image of The Modern Major-General. Many characters are really charming stereotypes, at least in occupation, of various familiar English types. The storyline here is exciting. There is an idyllic castle, sort of Camelot, where the animals live. And there is a real threat, with nasty villains. Characters die. Considering the book was originally written for young adolescents, it's not too childish, so the dark parts are darker than most "little kid" books. It's not a little kid book, but what's now called "young adult". I know plenty of adults who read it as adults. All in all, a good read and an excellent start to a good series.
