Out of the box the bootloader is busted, but works after reflashing it.

*by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2020*

This is not a Digispark, it's a knockoff. It doesn't work like a Digispark as-sold. Should be 1 star, but adding another star because they're $2 each, and all the parts are there, but you probably weren't counting on having to do the flashing. So these do have a micronucleus bootloader, but it doesn't work properly. Out of the box, these will take a program from the Arduino IDE, but as soon as they lose power, it goes back to the default (fast blinking LED).I used a raspberry pi & avrdude to flash it with the t85_default release from micronucleus.Wire pins:Rpi->this board as:GPIO17 -> P5GPIO18 -> P2GPIO23 -> P0GPIO24 -> P1GND -> GND5V -> VinI did this with tiny alligator clip test leads.Configure avrdude.conf:programmer id = "linuxgpio"; desc = "Use the Linux sysfs interface to bitbang GPIO lines"; type = "linuxgpio"; reset = 17; sck = 18; mosi = 23; miso = 24;;Flash:command line: avrdude -p attiny85 -C avrdude.conf -c linuxgpio -v -U flash:w:t85_default.hexWith that done, and the board profile loaded, it works fine. Can program with the arduino IDE and programs stay after power-loss. It's easier to deal with these on a Linux box -- lots of driver headaches in windows.Seller told me to google Attiny85 when I asked about the strange bootloader behavior, big shout-out to Xie for that advice.

    SOLUTION for connect/disconnect behavior.

*by R***K on Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2021*

Out of the box when these are connected to a computer they keep connecting and disconnecting. Configure the Arduino ide with the proper board and leave the digispark board disconnected. Load the "Start" sketch from the examples menu under File. Click the download button in the IDE, it will tell you to insert the digispark, do this now. It should load the digispark with the blinky sketch (Start.) The digispark should now stop the connect/disconnect behavior.I give the thing 3 stars because of this headache. If they would just load a Blinky program from the factory this would not be an issue.Hope this helps

    Easy peasy ATTiny

*by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2021*

I don't know why it wants me to taste the thickness of sheerness of a microcontroller board, but these are good little boards. They can be a pain in the butt to program, but a restart of Arduino ide usually solves the issue. These are exactly what I was expecting. The built in voltage regulator is enough for the controller, a shift register and 8 under driven leds
