desertcart.com: The Giver Quartet Omnibus Deluxe Collector's Edition: 0884134977885: Lowry, Lois: Books Review: Great buy - Book isn't too big to be carrying around reading throughout the day and the writing is a nice size. Seems to be good quality. Came packaged nicely in a box with padding hut still somehow came damaged (photo of damaged corner attached) Review: One of my favorites (as said by a book-o-holic) - I read The Giver at a very young age and loved it. A few years after that I read Gathering Blue and loved it even more. I never knew the two were connected. After learning of the quartet, I drooled over this book constantly until my fiancé felt it better for everyone involved if I just got the book lol. This is an amazing quartet. It doesn't seem connected u til you really get into it, but all the subtleties of the stories really pull it together. The themes offered up in this book beg to be pondered and lingered over. The stories as individuals are wonderful stories. But, finally, reading them all together creates an entire world within which one can roam free and learn. I greatly recommend this book, these stories, to anyone of reading age. Having already read the first two many times over, I am certain I will read this quartet time and again and gain something new from it each time. Lois Lowry offers up an insightful and riveting world full of heartbreakingly poignant characters. A masterful quartet. Bravo Lois, bravo.

Beautiful Book
A friend recommended this and I immediately started shopping. I was first drawn to this one in particular because it has all four books in one, and the price was less than buying a set. Had I known how beautiful this book was, I would have gladly spent the same as the set. It was delivered in perfect condition. The cover is a satiny silver with embossed letters and designs in metallic red. The edges of the pages are red and there is a built in red ribbon bookmark. When you open the book the pages are a crisp white with black print. Everything is so aesthetically appealing that I almost don't want to touch it. I can't wait to start reading it, I'm sure I will love it even more.

No appreciation for books that are new
I never got to read this book growing up, so after watching the movie with my boyfriend the other night, I knew I had to read the book, and found this great omnibus of all 4. I am a lover of books, and I also value having books that are nice quality, so I immediately fell in love with the colors and design of the hardback. But I just have some comments on the things that I as a book lover am not so thrilled with. First off, and I guess I did not notice this in the original photo, there is a large sticker on the front cover saying how the book is also a movie. If I am a buying the book, I do not care about that, and especially if I am buying a nice book. It took me 15 minutes with a plastic razor and the tiniest bit of goo gone to be able to remove it, and even still it is not perfect (as it would have been with no sticker at all). Secondly, the back cover is dirty around the edges and has other minor imperfections. I know I shouldn’t expect much from a book being shipped in a box in the mail with no protection. Overall, very happy with the book and excited to read, just wish they wouldn’t do things like put that sticker on the front.

great addition to the bookcase
very pretty book. Cover and the red pages are quite lovely. The story is really well done too. My 12yo has enjoyed this story and I think it's a good age. He's an avid reader and rejects a lot of options but this one was a winner.

As pictured
Beautiful hard bound copy of all 4 books!

Poorly packaged, no wrapping around the book to protect it. I have dents to the top and bottom part of the spine on the front cover. The book itself is brilliant, have read them before, just wanted to have the special edition as my copies are wearing out. Bit disappointed tbh.

Die Englische Version ist frühestens ab 10. Klasse Realschule zu empfehlen. Die Geschichten sind alle unheimlich spannend. Nicht nur für Jugendliche.

This is a very interesting, breathtaking and thought provoking series! As individual books, they're all pretty good, but when read all together, they are amazing, I couldn't put it down ! One of the best dystopian series I have read. While I was bothered at first that each book took on a different character and story, I quickly got over it and easily became involved with each as I realized the different tales were all connected. I got really attached to the characters, Jonas, Gabe, Kira, Matty and Claire. I loved the fact that in the last book, Son, the stories of all the previous three books were finally given closure. I would definitely recommend it!

Además de estar muy bien escritos, hacen pensar. Mi nieto de 14 años leyó el primer relato traducido, y le encantó. Le encargué el cuarteto en inglés para que practicara, y antes de dárselo me enganché y me lo leí entero.
