Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Beautiful book with great easy to follow patterns! - My copy of Make it simple arrived this week, I am so excited to start making these patterns. The patterns, as always from Tilly, look really easy to follow. I have been sewing for a few years but I'm always looking for fast and stylish projects to sew and Tilly really delivers here. The make it your own sections look great. I can't wait to make the Safiya trousers, jumpsuit and playsuit!! The book also explains the sewing jargon so would be great for beginners. A real game changer for me whilst using Tilly's books is that I now use carbon paper to copy the pattern onto my fabric, with the double sided paper pattern this really helps, or you can download the PDF patterns online to print yourself or send to a copyshop. Thank you Tilly for delivering once again! Your books and other patterns made me fall in love with sewing clothes and this new book has got me excited to sew all over again!! Review: Great for a beginner sewer! - This book is so easy to follow for a beginner. It has really clear photos of each step, and each project is quick and simple enough to do in one day/weekend. I really like being able to adapt and customize the patterns to what I need (e.g. making some elasticated trousers from the jumpsuit template). The templates are also really size inclusive so you can make projects for a wide range of sizes. Only small issue is that some of the pieces overlap on the pattern sheets, so tracing paper will come in handy.

Perfect beginners sewing book
I love all Tilly's books and patterns, although I could sew more difficult things, the clothes I like to wear are simple, funky and comfy so these patterns are perfect. The instructions are made very clear and with all the patterns that are included it's great value for money. I've just made the pyjamas today, just took an afternoon, straightforward and soooo comfy! For me, to have a great basic T shirt pattern is a godsend. As in all dressmaking books there's usually one or two designs you can't see yourself wearing..... but in my experience they're usually the ones I end up making and loving the most! Another great plus is if you search any of the patterns on Instagram you will find lots of photos of real people wearing the clothes they've made. I hope if you buy it you love it as much as me - good luck!

This book has given me the confidence to sew!
I've always wanted to be able to sew, I've tried a few times with youtube videos and homemade patterns but never made anything truly wearable. I treated myself to this book on pre-order and it's the best book I've ever brought. I've already made the safiya dungarees and had the confidence to change the pattern to add in buckles and pockets and am now waiting on some fabric to make the wrap dress and jumper. I was slightly worried that there wouldn't be enough patterns to fit my own style but the making it your own sections give you so many ideas for customisation and altering the patterns. I'm planning on ordering another copy of my mother in law for her birthday and plan to get all the other Tilly and the Buttons books for my birthday! I really would recommend this book if you want to gain some confidence in sewing with simple easy to follow instructions.

Good for beginners and very rusty restarters.
Locked down and not able to buy clothes, and slightly inspired by the GBSB, but I haven't sewn anything for almost 40 years (we did needlework for 2 years at school, and during that time I failed to complete the blouse we had to make). I was looking for something for beginners, and this is it. The instructions are very clear, with plenty of photos, so I was able to start at the beginning and create. The patterns need to be traced. While this is somewhat tedious, it does give the time to really think about the pieces, and to understand what you need to do - and no chance of ripping or cutting your original by mistake. The garments at the start are very simple, perhaps too simple to be flattering. But it's easy to make simple alterations to suit - I made my second pair of Safiya trousers somewhat longer, and they look much more flattering. There's a good range of sizes, more than most books of this type. I'm needing roughly twice the suggested time to complete each project - I'm putting that down to inexperience. Someone who doesn't need to refer to the instructions at every stage could go much quicker than me. I'm hoping to progress to more complex garments now I'm starting to understand how they need to be made, and my sewing machine skills are improving.

Fantastic for beginners
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking of learning to sew their own clothes. The patterns are great, I have made the Safiya trousers, dungarees and playsuit and the Suki dress so far and all fit fantasticly whilst being simple to make. The step by step photo instructions are so helpful, as is the first section of the book while explains the terms etc Before this book I'd managed to take up my own curtains and make a simple tote bag. Now it has given me the confidence that I can sew my own wardrobe! Thank you to Tilly & the team for this fantastic book. I'll definitely be buying the others 😊

Great book, great content and even better projects!
I love this book! I bought it to learn how to follow patterns and make clothes from patterns. I have made clothes for a few years but wanted to learn properly and this book has been a great start. I have already made one of the garments from the book and I plan to make them all at some point. The instructions are simple and I like the inclusion of shortcut instructions to use if you have already made the garment before. I would absolutely recommend this book and I plan to purchase Tilly’s other books.

Let me start by saying that I am a Tilly fan and have her previous books. I find that a lot of the negative reviews tend to be from those who don't necessarily know her work/books. Tilly's books are delightful to all but her message has always been about bringing sewing to beginners. This book, in particular, is focused on simpler, more speedy projects that can be whipped up in an afternoon (or a couple of days, depending on how much time you have). Like her other books, there are all these nifty little details that can be used to personalize and upgrade each project. If you are more experienced and want to skip the explanation of the techniques, there is a nice little checklist for each project. When it comes to the style, I always recommend looking at the designer's instagram or website to get a feel of what their style is. Sometimes it is just not for me, so I do some browsing first (Instagram is great to look at what the patterns look like on other people) and then decide if I want to invest the money on that particular pattern/book. I am super pleased with this purchase and definitely can't wait to keep sewing with Tilly!

I've made two things from this book (well, two patterns across three garments -- two pairs of the Safiya trousers and the Tabitha t-shirt) but holy cow they were so easy and look amazing. I've never sewn clothes before, and these directions are so clear and the pictures are incredibly helpful. I just bought some more fabric to make a Tabitha dress and some Juno pajama bottoms. I definitely take longer than the pattern says, but that's because I'm going super slow and careful! Taking my time, trying to make everything nice and even -- just like the book says to do. Hooray! Recommended!

Adorei o livro.
