This book, in my opinion, perpetuates the toxic marriage ideals that are rampant in the evangelical church. I had my husband read some choice excerpts and he described it as "simplistic, shallow, and demeaning to both sexes".Examples:Comparing men as callous buffalos and women as easily crushed butterflies.Likening a woman's sexual assault as a "vaccine" for future toxic relationships.Telling a pregnant woman to give her husband more attention so he will stop cheating on her.These are just a few examples of Gary Smalley's advice offered in this book.
