Easy to install and it works!
Purchased the battery powered MySpool Water Alert with text/email notifications on a recommendation from a friend who had had one for years and said it works very well. I installed it to monitor if a high water level in my sailboat's bilge is triggering the automatic bilge pump by placing at the same level the bilge pump's float would trigger the bilge pump. It was very easy to install. Once connected to the WiFi, I tested it by both lifting the float by hand and by filling the bilge with water. It works. Tested it multiple times and each time the float rose I received a text message within 20-30 seconds. Very happy with the device and the reassurance it gives me and I hope it never needs to contact me!

Easy to install.
I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of installing the MySpool Alert. Now I can be confident of receiving both an email and a text message if my pump quits working for some reason. It is very reasonably priced as well.

Pretty neat wifi unit for monitoring, but could be so much better!
Okay, quick review first for those with short attention spans! This box works well for what it is, wifi range is decent at around 100 feet max from what I found in my testing. Battery looks like it would last forever too! 3 months on rechargeable AAA batteries and its still on 100% battery, according to its reporting when the unit is triggered. Alright, now on to my long review for those who like information! I've modified this unit to do reporting on my neighborhood's water irrigation system. I've removed the float switch and run the wiring into our #2 pump house's controller (Yaskawa P1000) to its normally open error port. this closes the contacts and triggers the wifi box. It works just fine, and while we don't have many low water pressure or other errors, it has triggered several in a few months time. The big thing here is the antenna issue. MySpool could do so much more with this thing, but hasn't offered any option for adding longer range to their detectors, so with a little internet googling, I found that the wifi board is pretty standard stuff and used for a wide variety of raspberry pi stuff. A little scraping, a little soldering, a bit of drilling and a bunch of crazy glue, I've added on an SMA connector (cut from an SMA thinwire coax extension I had laying around the shop) which is now connected to a cheap Yagi antenna! Range is now easily a quarter mile, and uses a neighbor's internet connection for wifi service for reporting. Note, pumphouse #2 is quite far away from any neighbors and was not able to connect without this antenna at all. With just some simple soldering and a few extra parts, I'm sure if I really wanted to, having two Yagis pointed at one another with a direct line-of-sight between the two, I could probably get a mile distance, maybe more! This solved having to pay for an cable/telephone line installed at our pump houses, a 400 dollar network card for each of the 3 Yaskawa controllers we have and a monthly internet service bill for each pump house (2 total). I'll continue testing this one box from MySpool for the rest of our watering season, and if all works out, I'll purchase 2 more for the other pumphouse! For MySpool, if you're reading these reviews: Love what you've done, but please think about adding an SMA jack to your boxes, as well as an optional 5VDC (usb type connector, maybe?) power input for either keeping an internal battery charged or at least powering the unit without batteries at all. It seems to take about 30 seconds to receive an email from the unit, so having a supercap powering the unit for a full minute would make this little box phenomenal! There's probably a good market for these things if they are sold as I've modified mine and sold for irrigation error monitoring devices, as there's literally nothing out there that really does this! Even at $200 or $300 for a device with the ability to work up to a mile away (FCC conformability requirements fullfilled, of course) would be a welcomed thing for us watermasters having to deal with irrigation pump failures!!! Hell, make it a 2-box system that connects via one of the business frequencies (900mhz to one another, with the receiver connected directly to a router would be fantastic!

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
This product WILL NOT LAST. And whatever warranty is available will not cover you when it fails. We used it to send us water level alerts for our pool so we would know when to fill it or turn off the pump so it wouldn't burn out when we travel. However, after just a few months, we realized we weren't getting alerts anymore. It took us a few months to figure this out but then we replaced the batteries (most logical reason it wasn't working, right??) and that did not fix the problem. We contacted the manufacturer who gave us troubleshooting ideas that also did not work. We asked what the warranty was since they told us it was out of warranty (less than a year after we purchased it and most likely it broke less than 6 months after we started using it) but wouldn't let us know what the warranty actually was and told us we were out of luck. SAVE YOUR MONEY and buy one of the metal water level alerts out there. This is cheap plastic or something and it WILL NOT LAST. You will waste your money!!

It’s a great little gadget. Works perfectly. Just a little hard getting it hooked to the WiFi.

Great for detecting swimming pool low water
After seeing different products from other vendors, including the need to subscribe for notifications, difficulty in setting up and getting alerts, etc., I was hesitant whether this one would meet my needs. The description about the product was very accurate and the product was exactly what I wanted. It was simple to install and setup. No subscription needed. As to how I am using it, I needed something that would tell me when the level of the water pool in my pool was below my desired depth. The video on the web site was super useful in showing how to switch from high water to low water mode. I found a spot around my pool where it would not accidentally get bumped. Under the railing of the steps into the pool turned out to be ideal. I enclosed the unit on three sides with a part of a plastic container. I mounted the top of the container to the coping around the pool which is always above water, with velcro. I ran the wire to a waterproof container thru a tiny hole near the top. That container sits on the pool deck under the railing. The wi-fi connectivity worked fine. The battery unit eliminated the need for any wires going across the deck. Too soon to know how long the batteries actually last, but I intend to really use this unit when I'm away so I can tell my house sitter when to add water to the pool, so battery life shouldn't be an issue. In the future if the control unit becomes waterproof that would make my setup even better.

Cannot be configured to send emails
It connected to my Wifi but could never be configured to send email alerts. MySpool support tried to help but it got quite technical, with lots of home network configuration fiddling, including a new DNS server address. Unfortunately my network DNS server cannot be changed. The product had to be returned.

Exactly what I wanted
After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about this product, but I had already ordered it so I decided to give it a shot. I found the setup simple and quick and worked exactly as per the instructions. I find the text alerts are between instant to under one minute delay. So far this productis exactly what I wanted and works exactly as advertised. Install only took a few seconds as well. it's only been a few hours but I will test it regularly and update this review if anything changes. Update: I have had this alert 10 days now and I test it regularly. I still find the text and email alerts to be pretty instantaneous. Next time there is a big storm I will unplug my sump pump and test the float operation, but looking at it, it looks like it will work well. Still happy

Seems to work as intended. It’s outside and not sure how long the batteries will last. One of the batteries came stone dead but once replaced works great. Exactly what I needed.
