Learn how to draw proportional, realistic portraits in this easy to follow, step-by-step tutorial! Learn from an experienced artist and art teacher, Jasmina Susak, who will guide you in drawing process from complete scratch to the finished portrait. Not only will you learn how to draw facial features and skin, but hair too in this highly detailed tutorial. This tutorial was made for intermediate artists, but beginners should also give it a try since Jasmina will share a lot of tips and tricks that will help you understand the most important things behind a realistic style of drawing.Take this book, enhance your drawing skills, and get your portraits to the next level! Review: Very good. How do draw ONE person from complete scratch! - Pretty neat. The author takes you through a painstakingly thorough (and that's a GOOD thing!) process of drawing a portrait of a young woman. (The same portrait that is on the cover of the book.) Along the way, you'll pick up a lot of techniques that will help your future drawings and you'll most likely feel a lot of confidence after completing the drawing project by the end of the book. She "holds your hand" (that's a GOOD thing!) through the creation of the whole portrait. I am giving the book five stars because she really pours her heart into giving you all the information you need to complete the drawing. However, I was somehow under the impression (based on the title) that this book would help artists draw portraits of anyone "from complete scratch." Instead, she gives instructions, measurements, a "template," if you will, on how to draw this one particular woman's face from scratch. And by "from scratch" she means, not tracing and not copying a photo. Instead of copying a photo, you are copying *her* drawing! For some reason I thought that maybe she'd give instructions on how to draw *any* face "from scratch" (meaning draw a face from your imagination, in various poses, lighting, etc) "from scratch" (not using a photoโor someone else's drawingโto copy) but this is not the case. A lot of artists aspire to be able to draw faces entirely from their imagination (and many artists do attain this skill). This is not a criticism of this particular book, however, because it's a really great concept that she's offering--step-by-step with painstaking (which is GOOD!) detail on how to do your own drawing of the woman which is on the cover of the book. If you're still learning how to draw portraits, this book will undoubtedly help you. Review: Excellent book on drawing realistically - This book is excellent! I've read it through 3 times. It demonstrates and explains sketching techniques that will bring your artwork to an entirely new level. I am so impressed with her techniques and direction. Every portrait I start is is a real artistic journey in shading and sketching.

Should have been a pamphlet
Unnecessary to have so many pages. Itโs a basic mathematical solution to create summitry in your basic approach to sketching. I like the book and itโs been helpful but it approaches you learning to draw 1 person. I learn more from seeing more examples.

One face - beautiful drawing
I donโt know if it was me not understanding the bookโs description or a missrepresentation. This is a book about how to draw a face, one face, a womanโs face. The face that is on the cover of the book. I was expecting a little bit more. My granddaughter is learning to be an artist, so I will be gifting this book to her for her studies, so problem solved.

OMG! Fantastic book!
My daughter who is only 11 totally smashed this portrait from following this book. Sheโs big into art and is very good at lots of drawings but struggled with faces. The two pictures attached are only 1 week apart!!! The first face she did was a section of face and couldnโt grasp it at all. Then I got her this booked and she followed it, it took her a total of 27 hours to complete the portrait but the end result was astonishing! The book from start to finish is only one face, but itโs well worth it, it goes into depth about shading, lighting, different pencils etc.
