As an avid shooter that suffers from an astigmatism, your average red dot basically looks like a blurry star to my eyes. Not the case with any Holosun I've ever used, the glass is very clear although there is a slight tint and the reticle is tack sharp. I'm running the 512C on my Daniel Defense DDM4V7 and it's a fantastic combo. The 512C is lightweight, was perfectly zeroed out of the box and not that it matters but looks pretty cool. It's fully enclosed, waterproof and far more durable that anything I would subject my rifle to. The option to run on solar power is a nice addition but I'd stock up on CR2032 batteries just in case, they're cheap and plentiful. Don't be discourage by those that won't buy "Chinese optics" this is a solid product at a very fair price and will operate under harsher conditions than the average shooter will ever subject it to. My only criticism is that it doesn't get quite dim enough for night vision but that's just nitpicking. I'll be picking up another 512C for my home defense rifle. Review: Great Value - All A Civilian Needs - Great optic for a third of what Eotech charges, and you get a clear reticle unlike the Eotech's blurry reticle. It also has shake-awake, something Eotech doesn't have, and for a home defense gun, I think that's an advantage. Though it doesn't quite give you that wide open feel of the Holosun 510C which I also own and love, it's worth the slight compromise to have a fully sealed optic if you think you might ever need to shoot in bad weather. Remember, open optics can become completely unusable in heavy rain. I've put about 1,000 rounds through my AK with this installed and the rifle has been banged around a good bit as well, but the zero is still perfect. Unless you are planning on being in combat, this is all you need. So if you magnify it the dot will not increase in size?** A: No, it is not a holographic site. This is a red dot. I recently purchased this model and really like the optic. I have purchased many different rifle sized enclosed red dots, and the difference this one has is that it's slightly rounded and has a slimmer side profile, so it maintains the same width as my PSA AR-V, Benelli M4, even AR-15s without sacrificing field of view. Most of the rifle sized red dots I've used have a more wide and square outline which can snag and add a bit of top balance issues. I've also found it to be very reliable, even with repeated 12 ga recoil and thousands of rounds of 9mm.
