small but mighty
Bought this 4 pack because i wanted to have these all over my home incase of power outages. I also specifically picked these because I appreciate they use AAA batteries that most people already have in their home and not some crazy huge D or C battery that no one really keeps on hand. These are super bright especially for their small size so they fit nice in drawers etc. This was a buy im very happy with

These lights work great, even though I wish they were a little brighter and shone further. Overall Iโm satisfied with the purchase and quality.

"JARDLITE Emergency Handheld Flashlight Instructions for Dummies".
To clarify, I bought the set of 2 JARDLITE Emergency Handheld flashlights and these were delivered in the past week. I've only just set them up. That's what spurred my writing this review, now, instead of after having the flashlights for awhile where I could address battery life & longevity of the lights. Hopefully, what I do have to say will aid others who are not real technically or mechanically inclined to do it right the first time, avoiding the mistakes I made. Consider this review the "JARDLITE Emergency Handheld Flashlight Instructions for Dummies". (No copyright impingement intended.) 1. You need 3 AAA batteries. 2. You want to unscrew the end with the red button--that's your "On/Off" switch. 3. When you've removed the cap, you'll see the battery holder inside the tube or handle of the flashlight. 4. Remove it. Just tip the flashlight & it will slide out. 4. You'll note there are 3 sections to the battery holder. One AAA battery goes into each section. In doing so, make sure you place the flat end of your battery, the negative end or end marked "-" , against the spring in that section of the holder. Let the spring be your guide as to which way to pace your battery in each section. Two will go one direction and the 3rd will go the opposite direction. 5. Once you've placed the batteries into the holder, you're ready to replace it into the tube handle. 6. VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the flat end of the battery holder is at the bottom of the flashlight and the end that has something protruding is placed closest to the "light" end and slide it back into place. 7. Screw the cap back onto the bottom and you're good to go. You need to be sure you've screwed the cap on all the way, securely, but don't need to make it so tight you'll never be able to get it off again without help. Functions: Simplifying, I'll say you have 4: Steady on, Flash, Fast Flash and the ability to zoom, adjusting how far you need the light beam to go and how narrow or wide you want the beam to be. To turn it on, just depress the Red button on the bottom. That should give you a steady on-- it did me, anyway, on both of mine. If you lightly depress the Red button again you'll get one of the flashes, lightly depress again and you'll get the second one or can turn that mode off. They say one is a flash/strobe and the other is an SOS/emergency signal. Personally, I wasn't sure which is which, so I reached out to my favorite consultant, Google, and asked. Their AI advised me the slower flash is a deliberate pace to tap out the Morse code for SOS (...---...). That makes the slower flash the emergency one. The fast flash or Strobe, produces high-frequency, rapid bursts of light. This speed is designed to be disorienting and is primarily used for tactical applications or self-defense. Okay. Now we all know the difference between the flash modes in newer flashlights. To zoom you simply slide the cover over the "Light" end of the flashlight forward & back You can adjust the beam from a pinpoint to wide angle. Just stop sliding it when the size of the beam and distance you want to see is reached. That's it. So far, I've only set mine up and played around a little to make sure all functions work on both flashlights. I'll keep one next to my bed and put the other in my car. I might buy another set of two. I could place one in the "junk" drawer in the kitchen and one in the bottom drawer of the bathroom vanity cabinet where it will be out of the way, but readily available when needed. Ever been in the shower/tub or sitting taking care of business in an inside bathroom, one without any windows, when the power goes out? Perfect example of what's meant when someone says "pitch black"--you can't see a thing! These flashlights have a metal case so should be durable. They're suppose to be weather and shock resistant. I assume that means water resistant -- like if you're outside in a storm, rain shouldn't effect it's operation. I also assume it means it can withstand being commonly dropped or banged. They're a good size, approximately 5", for carrying in a larger pocket, purse, briefcase, backpack, drawer in your home, emergency or work kit or glove compartment without being so small they get lost among other items. They'd also fit into any number of belt attached holders for people working in security or the trades. They feel like they're well constructed. With the batteries installed, they're neither too heavy to hold for longer periods of time nor to light weight. I like the feel of it in my hand. I expect these to provide all the emergency light I'll need. Now, back to order two more Hope this was helpful.
