Used for years
A helpful note: Don't chew or swallow whole, suck on them like a cough drop. When I get a sore throat, the "getting a cold" type, I suck on these... 99% of the time sore throat gone, no cold. Might help with other virus based diseases as well. I tend to break them in half, use half and then a few hours later use the other half. Don't eat or drink for awhile after using. Taste is ok for medicine, not what I'd pick for fun. Bottom line: Works great for me. Bottle keeps fresher than the foil wrapped rolls.

Soothes the Throat Lining
My wife and I have noticed a definite soothing effect from letting the dissolving lozenge's juices flow down past the throat lining, especially when nasal draining might interfere with going to sleep. However, there is no conclusive evidence that elderberry prevents colds or flu.
