The first three launched August 11, 1991 were Doug, Rugrats and Ren & Stimpy. After the Doug IP was transferred to Disney in 1995 and a nasty falling out over creative control of Ren and Stimpy with John Kricfalusi, the creator, who shown no interest in surrendering his creation to Nickelodeon's NickToons stable.This left Rugrats to spend the first three seasons 1991-1994, repeatedly reran with two Jewish holiday specials (Passover and Chanukah) created during the hiatus. Upon resuming production in 1997, changes were in the wind. With David Doyle's death and Joe Alaskey replacing Lou (Grandpa) Pickles and the show writing in new characters every couple of years, with major ones like Dil appearing first in "The Rugrats Movie" and Kimi and Kira Watanabe in "Rugrats in Paris".The show started off with a pilot episode that was unaired that featured Tommy, Phil, Lil, Stu, Didi, Lou and an unknown couple, assumed to be the DeVilles and of course, Spike.It wasn't until the first episode of the first season (Tommy's First Birthday) that Chuckie and their childhood nemesis and Tommy's older cousin, Angelica would appear.However, writing for Angelica was a rather wrathful fight behind the scenes. The writers wanted her to get away with what was practically murder but Arlene wanted Angelica to learn from her actions. The fighting was constant during the first 3 seasons, but as the remaining 6 resumed, the fighting dwindled.This DVD contains the Top 10 Rugrats episodes as voted online at the now-defunct Nickelodeon website. Extras are sparse, but feature promotional music videos and the unaired pilot titled "Tommy VS The Great Big White Thing", which clips were used in bumpers and station identifications, so if it seems familiar, the pilot is where it came from and the pilot is the first and few instances where Tommy is not wear his usual baby blue tee with diaper and bare feet (his shirt is orange instead of baby blue) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 90's Kids love rugrats *by B***R on September 18, 2024* I bought this dvd so I can show My lil cousins and nieces this cartoons and how great they definitely raise up watching this cartoon always like the rugrats will buy more ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of my favorite shows growing up *by D***O on March 27, 2013* The Rugrats has always been one of my favorite shows. It ran from 1991-1994 and then went on a small hiatus. It would eventually return to the spotlight. Then in 1998 the first movie "The Rugrats Movie" came out. The movie introduced Dil whom was unquestionably cute (although he's a bit of an attention hogging crybaby). Dil has to be my favorite rugrat (next to Tommy). Then in 2000 a second movie was released "Rugrats in Paris". Kimi (Chuckie's new step-sister) and Kira (Kimi's mom and Chuckie's new stepmother) were introduced. In my opinion, the addition of these 3 characters helped the show to grow and become extremely popular among kids. I thought the spin-off "All Grown Up" was OK.
