Good quality and quite versatile - also good for some yoga
I am very pleased with this roller. As a massage aid, which is what I bought it for, it's great. It is also firm enough that I can use it for some balance exercises (which would be difficult if it were softer). Although some have complained that it is too hard for massage on some body spots, you can lessen the impact of the hardness by positioning/supporting your body properly. It also appears to be well made, so i would expect it to last for quite a while. EDIT- two and a half years later- I am still using this thing and it has held up beautifully. In addition to the massage I do (back and ITB), I am now using it as a yoga bolster, and it's working out great! This was a very good investment

Great for Body Building and Dealing with Sore Areas
I read a review on this product saying "it was too hard to roll around on" or "it's just too hard and it hurts." Well it's supposed to be tough and firm because this is doing something stretching can't. When you use this foam roller you're getting and amazing deep tissue massage. I bought this because i'm into building muscle, and time and again, top trainers have seriously recommended a foam roller to massage the sore muscle and speed up recovery. But this isn't great just for that! It can also help in just tight areas of your body (feels amazing on your back), plus it's fun to roll on hah. Seriously, this is a super product, i recommend this product as well!

Make sure it is what you want
I went through Physical therapy for a shoulder problem, and one of the issues I deal with is a need to get my shoulder to release. I was directed to use a roller underneath my spine and allow my shoulders to release due to gravity-exactly the position shown in the amazon video. This roller works perfectly. A couple things to be aware of: 1. It is not a pillow. I would say it has about the same level of softness as a bale of hay. It will give a little bit, but it a very stiff piece of foam. The roller I used at physical therapy was somewhat softer than this one. 2. It is about the same diameter as a roll of paper towels. 3. The outer layer is a bit rougher than I would have liked- it hurts a little bit when you scrape it against bare skin. On the other hand, it stays where you put it, either on wooden or carpeted floors, which helps out. It comes with a sheet of exercises, which did not seem too useful, but again, I was using it for an exercise that a physical therapist had already demonstrated. I have been using it for about two weeks now, and there has been no sign of it softening or being deformed. In summary, it works perfect for my use, but be aware of how stiff the roller is, and make sure it is appropriate for your planned use.

Blue is pretty hard.
I got the blue log. This thing is very hard in my opinion. I've only used one other log before, the one my friend has is a foam one that is a bit softer. I like the softness of my friend's log better, but I like the material of this one better. I feel like this material will last a lot longer than the foam ones. I got this when it was on sale so the price was just right. I got this because my back muscles tense up a lot. My main use for this is to crack my back. I haven't found anything better for cracking ones back than laying back on a log and rolling it along the spine. For just stretching the back out though my favorite thing to use is a simple yoga ball. I've tried laying on this thing long ways, with my spine parallel to it directly on top, and don't really feel much of a stretch at all. I give this 4 stars because it feels like a very good quality product, I just wish it were a bit softer. I can't imagine how hard the black one is.

So worth it; excellent for opening up the shoulders
This is my second high density foam roller, both from JFIT. This is just a larger version of the other I previously ordered. I've had chronic back and neck pain for years now and one day on the Internet I saw a guy pop his back with one. I wasn't actually sure believed that it would work but the smaller one is inexpensive (not that this is expensive for it's size) so I gave it a shot. I use it several times per day. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes in my daily life. I recently started seeing a new physical therapist and during the initial consultation I described all the gadgets I use to help deal with the pain. She kept referring to a "bolster". which in my mind is the thing I sit on when I meditate, but eventually found out she meant a high density foam roller. I described how I use mine and she asked if I ever lay long way on it to open up the shoulders. Which brings me to the need for this larger sized one. The smaller 18" roller is perfect for rolling down my back to pop it (it's also small enough I just tuck it under something in the living room so I always have it available... I also take it on trips with me!). This one is large enough that I need to put it away in a closet. So while I CAN roll down this one to pop my back I primarily use it to lay on and open up my shoulders. As a programmer I'm at my desk a lot, and typing/using a mouse/deskwork can cause you to tend to roll in your shoulders, collapse your frame, etc. To help adjust for this you can simply lay longway (so that it's parallel with your spine). Then just relax and let your shoulders open up. You'll feel the difference immediately. I typically use this one twice a day. Once when I wake up and then either after I'm done working or before bed. One note: I have a cat that, for some reason, will eat or tear into anything FOAM. For instance, he chewed the feet pads off my inversion table. The smaller "super high density" foam roller (that I leave in the living room) he never touches. The 36" roller I have is the blue "high density EVA" and he HAS either clawed, nibbled on, etc this one which is an additional reason to stash it in a closet.

El producto no cumplió con mis expectativas. Es demasiado suave para usos terapéuticos, y la cubierta es muy delicada. Definitivamente no vale su precio.

This is my first foam roller and I have to say it is amazing. I use it to mend sore muscles as a result of workouts and it works very very well. You roll on the spot that hurts and you just hold that position. This part WILL hurt and it is supposed to (think about when you get a massage and they press on a knot you have). Another way i have used it, is to slowly run in on my back over the course of a few minutes. I sit down a lot at work so I hunch forward. When I get home I use this to relax my back and it is an awesome feeling. I bought the high density roller, and it looks to be of very good quality. If anything changes over the course of its use, I will post an update here. So far though, I give it 5 stars and it is MUCH cheaper than a massage therapist. Don't get me wrong, I like massages too but this will keep me from going as often and save me money.

The J Fit 18-Inch roller is a solid foam roller for beginners, occasional users, and those who need a smaller foam roller for travel. For athletes and those who need to use a foam roller consistently, I'd recommend getting the longer 36-inch foam roller, possibly in a denser consistency. As someone who's battling an IT problem, I've used my share of foam rollers in the past. My first few months of using this J Fit roller was great. I'd describe it as medium in density, and I would use it to warm up before moving onto the densest roller - which to me is where the real therapy is. The only issue I'm experiencing with the J Fit is that it's not holding up its shape that well. I've been using it consistently for about four months now. And while it still delivers, over time (and my 150 lbs body) the foam seems to be clustering on the inside in some areas, making the rolling motion a little bumpy and awkward. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker, and I suppose this is to be expected from a roller that's not completely ridged. But I think I may need a replacement after a year or so. * Note that the photo used in the product description makes the roller look longer than it really is. For me, it spans the width of my shoulders. AfroDiva out.
