Calphalon Easy Grip Apple Corer Slicer

I wanted to start to adding more fruit to my diet. But having mobility issues, I didn't want to be stuck (and the end of my snack) with an apple core I had to get up to throw away. Enter the Calphanlon Easy Grip Apple Slicer. It allows me to easily slice my apple and isolate the core with one motion. Having far too much time on my hands, I actually did some research on apple slicers before making my purchase. My research said this was the apple slicer to buy. And after using it for a while, I'm still very happy with my purchase, and if I had it to do over again, I'd still purchase this product. Realistically, we're just talking about an apple slicer, so there isn't much to say. It's a very capable device, does exactly what it says it will do, and it does it well. Some people have complained that they wish the device was sharper. I'd say that's a difficult decision. As it stands, I'd say the blades are plenty sharp to slice through an apple with little effort, but not so sharp that you have to worry about slicing your finger off when you're doing the dishes. Any sharper, and I think it would be more of a liability than a feature. All in all, it's a great little product and I recommend it.

I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my husband 3 or 4 years ago (he goes through a ton of apples) and we still use it all of the time. I'm usually the type of person that doesn't want a single function gadget. I want a staple product that can do many different things. This apple slicer was worth bending my rules for. It really does save us time and makes it easier to eat healthy food. If I'm going to a friend's house I can put out the costco pack of apples and slice up a bowl full to take over in a matter of just a few (very few) minutes and it doesn't feel like a hassle at all. I wash this in the dishwasher (I set it in a "bowl slot" where it fits perfectly) and while there are a few stains on the blades if you look really closely, there is no rust and it still looks great. It fits comfortably in both my hands and my husband's much larger ones. I really like Calphalon... All of our products from them have been really good quality. We both comment regularly that we're glad we have this.

A few years ago, I bought one of these for my daughter to use. She was younger then and loved sliced apples, but I was concerned about her using a knife when I wasn't around to supervise. While that was my original intent, I found myself using it when I was slicing apples. Fast forward and I find myself being responsible for feeding her marching band dinner on football game night and competition days. Trying to feed over 200 people as quickly as you can meant that we were just handing out whole apples as part of the meal, but many kids couldn't eat them whole due to braces and retainers. Even the ones that could eat them usually preferred they be sliced. One evening, I brought this gadget to the school and used it to slice the apples when requested. We quickly realized this was the way to go for everyone and I bought a second one to use so we could have two people slicing and get kids through the line faster. Both of these do a very good job and feel very safe to use. We are moving pretty fast and have had no accidents with this gadget. Another woman brought in a different slicer to help out and pretty quickly we found it didn't work as well. She even ended up slicing her hand with it rather than the apple! Blood everywhere which isn't good. The edges have remained sharp over time and I clean them by throwing them in the top rack of the dishwasher. I am not a kitchen gadget person -- pretty much avoid buying anything that has only one use -- but this is the best gadget I own. Love it!

I was looking for an apple slicer similar to the one my parents have. Their apple slicer is over 20 years old and is amazing, heavy duty, and goes through the apples like butter. Their old model however, can not be found in today's market at any price, saddly. This apple slicer though, comes close and it's a good price point. My family does canning and so we go through quite a few apples, slicing them as prep to the process. This product is holding up under what I think is heavier use then the general household might put it through and I'm very happy with it. I also eat lots more apples now which I'm sure is healthy for me - it makes it so fun and easy to make bite size slices that it's hard to resist. The only flaw I've found is that it misses the last little bit of skin at the base of the table when you are zipping along doing a lot of apples - so you have to pull the slices apart from time to time. But it otherwise has stayed sharp and the handles do make it very comfortable for an afternoon of canning prep.

I searched high and low for a good apple slicer and found it in this product. It has that great solid feel you want in an apple slicer while being easy to use, clean and handle. The slicer does a great job getting through apples and you can either push hard enough and get them all the way through the core or not as hard and the apple stays together so you can peel off the slices as you want. Seems to hold up well so far and cuts sharply. I like the robustness of the handle, although that makes it harder to fit in the drawer I think the trade off is worth it seeing how the last slicer I had went through my unprotected thumbs as it broke and dang near impaled the thick part of my outer thumb edge. I was left with large cuts, but it could have been worse. Needless to say, safe cutting is an important function to me and anyone I think who has been injured by cheap quality apple slicers when they break. I put it through the ringer (coring enough apples to make 14 gallons of apple sauce) and it has held up nicely.

This is, by far, the best apple slicer available for purchase. I like the grips. They are bigger than average and durable too. I previously owned one made by Kitchenaid. Although I liked it, after using this one I can certainly tell a difference. It cut very easily and with little effort. I feel like it is safer and less apt to slip or lean too far in one direction. It just cuts evenly and cores the apple evenly too. I just through my in the dishwasher. So, cleaning was simple too. I would and have recommended it to friends. I feel like it was priced right and I got my money's worth.

I admit I never saw the purpose in buying an apple slicer before. However, my son prefers his apples sliced, and he eats enough of them that I figured I would give this a try. After using it, I totally get it. It's so easy to use! This is a great option for people that want a quick way to cut apples, are slicing a lot of apples, or for those that are nervous or not good with knives (my elderly mother finds this much easier to use than trying to cut with a knife). This particular model seems very nice quality - solid 1 piece. It's a bit of a pain to wash - I usually just rinse in soapy water right after use.

Snow season was over. I had to find something to replace the snowballs I threw at random people on the street. It had to be something of the same shape. It had to be something not too dangerous like a rock, but also not too soft like toilet paper. It was a tough one. I was sitting under the same tree Isaac Newton once sat under in Central Park, when suddenly an apple fell on my head. Eureka! Sometimes in life, answers to the hardest questions get handed over to you if you have a little patience and luck. Apples! That’s what I would throw. Not only apples are fairly soft, they are also very healthy and nutritious, as they are packed with vitamins, iron, and calcium. In a way I would be giving away free food while still sharing and enjoying good laughs with total strangers. To my surprise not many people wanted to keep or eat the apple I threw at them. I got a mixed set of reactions. Some people would laugh. Some people would throw the apple back. Some people would run away. Some people would come at me, but I’d just tell them “bro it’s just a prank” and we’d be all good. Not too bad of an idea I must say. But it was getting expensive; too many apples and too little money. This is where this brilliant apple slicer came into play. This spectacular apple chopper will effectively chop an apple into 8 pieces, leaving its core as a little extra bonus. This allows me to throw 1 apple, to 9 different people. Talk about efficiency. In addition to that, by tossing just part of the apple, I would essentially be tossing less of a mass, equating to less of a force upon impact on my fellow New Yorkers. Newton would be proud.

This Apple Corer/Slicer is the worst item I have ever purchased. It is so blunt that it is virtually useless. It is not fit for purpose - the amount of force needed to cut through the apple is ridiculous and even if you manage to do so the apple is left bruised and torn, certainly not sliced.

Es muy práctico y de buena calidad. Lo compramos para que mi hija pudiera usarlo aunque todavía no nos animamos a que lo haga sola (apena cumplió 3 años) pero nos sirve mucho para tener snacks rápidos, en segundos tienes una manzana perfectamente partida sin desaprovechar nada. Funciona para manzanas grandes y pequeñas.

Me encanta, la utilizo a veces a diario pues consumimos jugos de frutas y verduras casi a diario en mi casa, es una herramienta ahora imprescindible en nuestra cocina, pues me toma mucho tiempo estar cortando todos los vegetales y frutas para poder ponerlos en el extractor por masticación, las manzanas especialmente me tomaban más tiempo pero con este cortador en menos de 3 segundos ya está lista una manzana para ponerla en el extractor, al principio me imaginaba que solo cortaría cierto tamaño de manzanas pero ahora se que no importa si son pequeñas o grandes, las corta igual y tampoco tienen que estar perfectas en forma, hay veces que unas no están tan simétricas y aún así se cortan perfecto siempre. A la hora de lavarla pues aunque no son navajas extremadamente afiladas, si me tomo mi tiempo para lavarlas con esponja, no se ensucia casi nada así que si la enjuago inmediatamente después de utilizarla queda muy limpia, y cada 2 o 3 usadas la lavo con esponja y jabón Las rebanadas quedan muy bonitas y perfectas, y al momento de hacer el corte siempre es mejor si lo haces de una sola vez y con suficiente fuerza al hacer el corte, de otra manera te va a parecer que requiere más fuerza para cortar la manzana, las agarraderas son de un plástico suave y se siente muy bien hecho así que puedes incluso poner un poco del peso de tu cuerpo para hacer más rápido el corte.
