Wilton B.A.S.H 12" Soft Face Sledge Hammer, 2-1/2 Lb Head (40212)

This is a great hammer that has already proven its worth in my garage. I recently used it to straighten a bent mower blade on my new Wilton bullet vise (the WVA6 is a solid deal if you need something good but affordable - I recommend that so much more than the BASH vise/hammer combo, which I only mention as it may likely grab your attention as competition for these two products even though they're all the same brand), and it handled the job perfectly. I really appreciate the soft face on this model because it helps the anvil on my vise last longer while I strike it. However, if you buy this, make sure you understand what a soft face is actually for. You should never use a soft face sledge like this to hammer metal stakes into the ground. When ordering, I opted for the 2.5 pound head instead of the 4 pound option because I wanted something a bit easier to swing and control. The 2.5 pound weight feels very close to a traditional hammer, whereas the 4 pound version can feel rather heavy. If you are debating between the two sizes, just consider how much force you actually need and make your decision based on that. I am just a weekend DIYer who works in IT during the week, certainly not a professional blacksmith. While the pros might laugh at my setup, this hammer gives me a lot of confidence. The unbreakable handle design is a huge plus, giving me peace of mind knowing the tool will survive even if my amateur aim is off and I happen to miss a swing. Overall, it is a well-built tool that easily meets my needs around the house.

It's an awesome itty bitty hammer. Well worth the money

I have this 12” 2.5lb B.A.S.H. I love it I will never go back to anything else it’s an excellent all the above sledge.
