Waterproof? Ha!
The second time we attempted to use the Extech "waterproof" DO Meter we found it totally dead. When we removed the cap, the entire inside of the meter was wet with water an battery acids. Either outside water had entered the meter from somewhere or the fluid around the probe found its way inside the meter. Either way this was not only a useless purchase but it's failure has possible compromised a study. Extech will not be on anybody's shopping list around here any time soon!

Handy Aquaponics/Fish Water Quality Instrument
It is nice to not have to deal with a meter box to lug around. I use this for measuring water quality of fish tank/aquaponics parameters. This handheld gives the temperature rapidly. The dissolved oxygen reading takes about 20 to 30 seconds to stabilize. The calibration and adjustability makes this a very convenient tool to have in one's pocket or hanging from the neck.

It works very good for first time, will see how much it last ;-) Very easy to use.

Using it to monitor aquarium O2 levels day and night at different depths to ensure stocking density doesn't cause depletion levels. Very accurate based on calibration. Had an issue understanding the calibration process at first and technical support was easy to access and walked me through the process. I appreciate that. Might buy other products from them.

off to a bad start with the DO meter
DO meter came in late and wouldn't turn on past the self startup. Basically sat stuck there forever and looks like some others had the same issue. I have issued a return and will try another to see if it was just a bad device and update my review accordingly. The instructions are really bad and honestly seems overly complicated to get it setup.

Easy to use
Purchased in October 2016. Easy to use. In addition to disolved oxygen displays temp. However very slow working. In January 2017 stopped working all together. It goes through self calibration then displays 00.00 for both DO and T. When was operational it was OK.

Insatisfecho
No estoy satisfecho con el instrumento. En colombia no se consiguen los repuestos y si los hay, cobran demasiado. Después de año y medio me di cuenta que el electrodo estaba roto internamente, por eso nunca pude usarlo. No hay soporte para este país.

They are a very poor product- they simply do not work accurately and there is zero customer support
Avoid buying these or using this manufacturer. I was hoping to use the device in field and lab settings to determine the dissolved oxygen content of water samples. I also have a Jenway and an older device which still work, but for teaching purposes we needed several and Extech looked like a great alternative so I purchased three. While, the existing Jenway devices and one of my Extech DO600 Waterproof ExStik II provide measurements that agree with one another, two of the Extech DO600 Waterproof ExStik II devices provide readings that are completely impossible. The devices were calibrated in exactly the same way as each other. I raised the issue with the sales team at Extech because they do not provide any customer service contact details but I could find a sales email address online (unsurprisingly). Nobody has answered my query, so presumably they are happy to sell the devices, which do not work, and they prefer not to hear from customers and do not intend to deal with faulty items. It's very disappointing as we have a limited budget and this has cut into it as we'll need to source alternative devices without receiving any refund, or even any suggestions as to the source of the fault/troubleshooting.

Not Waterproof
We have several of these units and are finding quite a similar trend in their flawed design. They are not waterproof to their claimed IP57 standard. Water penetrates the probe and corrodes the circuit board inside. Thus, the entire meter has to be disposed of.

need something that give anything as a reading? go ahead and order this!
read anything... badly! lol You can add 1, 2 or 3 air pump in the same bucket, always the same reading. You take a measurement of tap water, back to the original and have a different reading... I guess the more accurate one worth it even if they are costly.
