## Description

A great travel backpack should carry like the best backcountry backpack, without compromising the features needed for travel convenience. The Farpoint series brings streamlined features and light weight to our travel trek / backpacking packs. Two torso sizes allow for simplified but custom fit

Review: Excellent travel bag - I spent my senior year of college abroad living in Wales and during the breaks in my study (or if I just needed a break from study) I was fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe. This Backpack was my solo means of luggage transport during my entire 9 months of travel. From Istanbul to Bruges to Paris this backpack was perfect. I seriously cannot recommend this enough. I spent a long time researching exactly what bag to take with me and I remain convinced that this one is perfect. Ease of use: It's easy to carry with adjustable straps that allow you to haul heavy loads comfortably. On multiple occasions I would arrive late in a city and want to catch a sunset or see a site that was going to close soon creating a situation where I did not have to to check into my room and drop my luggage off. With this backpack that was no problem. I admit it even became a guilty pleasure to watch other travelers struggle with their luggage as I calmly walked past on to my next adventure. Design: Exceptionally well designed it features a large compartment for clothes or whatever other storage needs you have. Importantly it features pull down straps that serve to compress your clothing which dramatically increases the amount of clothing that you can take. One trip I took was a 26 day long multinational journey from Italy up through to Bruges and this backck more than met my clothing needs I believe I only did laundry twice (perhaps three) times. It also features a handy front pocket for access to things you'll readily need, a laptop pouch, and other varrious compartments that are all very useful. This backpack also features very nice touches in some of its design elements such as having the zippers tuck under the material so that its nearly impossible for someone to get into your pack without you noticing. Durability: I have had this bag for over a year now and used it on many many trips. it has no rips, no tears and really almost no signs of wear at all. Even though its extremely lightweight it is extremely durable. Versatility: It is worth mentioning that this bag is useful not just as a backpackers dream but also for travel in general. I have used it for family vacations or even just a weekend trip to Vegas. It worked well in all circumstances. Overall this bag is a well made and well designed product. It served me extremely well throughout all my travels and is still going strong. Can't recommend it enough.
Review: A super versatile travelling pack - As an avid ultralight backpacker and gear nerd, I wanted to find the perfect travel bag. There are many options but I had a few main requirements for the bag. It had to be carry-on sized. No border line, most-security-people-won't-notice sized bags. I didn't want to worry if it I would have to check it. It also needed to be a comfortable carrying backpack. I spent a summer traveling Europe years ago and realized how much walking one does with their luggage, especially when you're broke and trying to find a hostel that still has a bed open in the middle of the night. Also I have a few trips in mind that might include some actual hiking so the bag had to perform double duty. It had to be a front-loader. I wanted to be able to quickly access my stuff without unpacking everything. I looked at hiking packs as a solution for my traveling needs, but most are top loaders and are built to dimensions that are inefficient at maximizing space while staying under the carry-on size limits. The Osprey Farpoint 40 is exactly what I was looking for: a carry-on sized travel bag attached to a hiking suspension. Osprey is one of the most respected backpacking companies and I have met countless people who swear by their Osprey packs. This bag uses the same suspension system as their hiking packs, only with the ability to hide the straps away before you cram it into an overhead compartment. There's also a detachable shoulder strap if you'd prefer to carry it that way. The bag itself is tailored to minimalist traveling. It's very small. I spent 5 months in the woods living out of a 42 liter pack that also contained up to 5 days of food at a time. It always had room to spare, so I figured a 40 liter bag in civilization would be doable. It is but it takes some practice. You can fit a few days worth of clothes and a extra pair of shoes in it, but any trip longer than 4 or 5 days and you'll probably have to do a load of wash. My next travel purchase will be packing cubes as I think this will let me use space more efficiently and expand this bag's capabilities. The main compartment has a couple compression straps which allow you to cram clothes in without stressing the zippers. There is also a full length zippered mesh pocket for smaller stuff. The front compartment has a laptop sleeve and some small pockets for electronics and things you might want to easily grab for in-flight use before throwing the bag up top. I gave the bag 4 stars instead of 5 because of the small and inaccessible water bottle holders. When you're wearing the bag there's no where to stow a bottle or an ipod that you can easily reach without taking the pack off. I'm not sure why Osprey would leave such a standard feature off of this bag. If I was unfamiliar with Osprey as a company I would say they just messed up. I can only guess they did this to keep the bag under the carry-on dimension restrictions or to because they thought it would catch on a luggage belt if you did decide to check it. It's a minor complaint but in my day to day life I'm used to sticking things in my backpack's water bottle holder so I can free up my hands. All in all, it's a great pack that fulfills a need much better than anything else on the market. And to top it all off, Osprey has one of the best warranties in the gear game.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review
*by S***N on September 15, 2015*
