A local appliance repair friend highly recommended this procurement to clean our dishwasher of any unwanted odors and also cleaning limeacale we get from having hard water. It definitely does the job I used the recommendation on the package of putting one in the detergent tray and one inside the bottom of the dishwasher and it cleaned up the old dishwasher tub and unwanted smells immediately! Would recommend anyone run this in a dishwasher for that purpose and will buy again when needed! This item is a great value for the money! Old hard water stains and detergent buildup have been removed!

I did not expect much from this product, as I've always just wiped out my dishwasher with liquid Barkeeper's Friend. However, because others in the household are not diligent about scraping food off dishes, my 16 year old Bosch seemed to be bogged down by accumulated goo. I cleaned the filters and wiped out as much goo as I could reach, but the dishwasher was still dingy and the dishes were not getting as clean as they used to. After one treatment (done with a full dishwasher and regular cycle), the insides looked nearly new. The stainless steel interior was bright and shiny and the goo in crevices were nearly gone. The dishes came out cleaner, but not as nice as when the dishwasher was new. After a month, I did it again. The interior was even brighter and the goo is definitely gone. The dishes are getting cleaner than after the first treatment, but I will say the results vary based on who loads the dishwasher. If the sprayers can work as intended, the dishes are placed for maximum efficiency and hunks of food are not interfering with the process, the result is very good. My glassware is no longer streaky or cloudy and the dishwasher does not have a lingering odor of decaying organic material. Because I am in California and water is rationed, I refuse to run the dishwasher with this product and no dishes. I think it might be more effective on the first go if the dishwasher is empty. However, using this on a monthly basis for my household might be the most efficacious method for me. I had been contemplating replacing the dishwasher, but now I feel no need to do so. I think I can eek out a few more years from this appliance and will probably use it until the motor fails or there is major part that breaks.

PROS : Good Housekeeping rated this one # 1. So far, this seems quite good at cleaning & oder removal. Some of the other types that fizz spill fizzy stuff over onto the floors . So read the reviews on fizz actions ones or just avoid that type. CONS: Made in China. I really try to avoid items made in China. TIPS Although this is a good product, none of them are 100% perfect.100 % of the So you should : 1) rinse dishes BEFORE purting in the dish washer.. Cleaners can remove mineral build up but crumbs do get stuck/ trapped.I leared the hard way on that, when i stupidly believed the " no need to rinse claim on dishwasher soaps....It's a big lie .Yes dishes may come out clean ...BUT your filter...no much. 2) Clean your filter some are quite easy ro clean Just pull out bottom rack , find filter, twist to remove ,and rinse or use a tooth brush. You tube has vedios for tricky ones.. OR bite the bullet & have an appliance guy do it 1x a yr. IF yours is tricky .After the holiday is a good time due to extra use 3 This one is HUGE Stop using those gell pod dish washer tabs That plastic coating on those tabs gunks up filters AND valves. This advice came from a dish washer repair guy who had to replace a valve in my 3 yr old dish washer.If u like tabs use the pressed powder ones that come wrapped in foil ." Finish " has them here on Amazon. Hard to find in stores. OR use liquids like cascade OR powders. Bottom line these tabs do a great job. Worth buying. But other steps are also needed too

Did a good job cleaning and smells good

This dishwasher cleaner fixed our dishwasher like a little handyman came to our house and took everything apart and cleaned every last part. We ordered this because since we bought our house, our dishwasher has been our most disappointing appliance - basically rinsing dishes and then leaving a whole bunch of sediment all over everything. We would end up having to rinse or re-clean most of our dishes after running it, so it was almost pointless to use the dishwasher altogether. We finally got tired of loading the dishwasher, running the dishwasher, unloading and cleaning/wiping the dishes again. So we stopped using the dishwasher and just washed our dishes by hand. When I looked up dishwasher cleaner online, I noticed that this Affresh had a lot of good reviews. I noticed that another reviewer seemed to have a similar issue to ours, and recommended running the dishwasher 3 separate times to clean it out really well. This is exactly what we did. After running the dishwasher on Normal for three washes in a row, we started loading our dishes in and waited for the dishwasher to fill up over a couple of days. Finally, the day of judgement came. We ran the dishwasher, and voila`! Everything was almost crystal clear. We don't use the heated dry function, so we do have to let things air dry, but, for the most part, the dishwasher was like brand new. Well it is as good as a 10 year old dishwasher could possibly be. (We still need to get a new one sometime, but in the meantime, this will do.) We are very happy with how the Affresh tablets worked to clean out our dishwasher. Now we can use it again! We will probably use these for maintenance now that we have them, and toss them in the dishwasher once per month. I highly recommend these for cleaning out a clogged dishwasher that leaves sediment on dishes. UPDATE 9/29/16: Our sediment ended up coming back in about 10 days from this posting. Feeling a bit disappointed that this didn't resolve the issue, but I can't blame it all on these tablets, because we really just need a new dishwasher.
