There are lots of different layers to each song and never ceases to bore the listener throughout the entire journey. This album has a very similar feel to the latest Sphongle offerring or Phutureprimitive, yet manages to form its own distinctive sound through the use of very deep hypnotic baselines, ethnic instruments doodling in the background and mingling with thick and shiny acid synths in the background. My favorite part about the album is the fact that all of the songs flow into each other so it forms a cohesive landscape upon which each song springs from, similar to pretty most of Simon Posford's work. If you like Shpongle or pretty much any type of psychedelic electronic music, you should definitely give this album a buy! Review: Great Find! - I bought this on a whim not too long ago at desertcarts recommendation. They nailed it! I love most everything Simon Posford has produced and this album is so close to his production style I swear it's an elaborate ruse or an alternative creative output for him. Prose Edda isn't the sort of album you can appreciate as background music at work, in your ear buds, the first play through. The more attention you give it, the more awesome it sounds (not unlike something Posfordian!) With respect to YGGDRASIL, I have to say that references to Simon Posford isn't a bad thing and shouldn't be taken as ding against your individuality and/or its creative offering. I can't speak for anyone else reviewing Prose Edda, but this recording is top-notch and Mr. Posford (and co's) releases are some of the shining examples of what's possible in the weird world of music and sound-manipulation. I prefer music in headphones and for anyone that's in the same boat you won't be disappointed. I say that because it proves to me yet again that some of the best things happen by accident. This is truly no exception. Prose Edda is one of the most interesting albums I have heard in a while. The creativity knows no bounds. All the tracks flow right into each other very well but they are done so in a way where it wouldn't sound weird if you just skipped from one to another[but you won't want to]. There are only so many albums anyone can likely claim to listen to from start to finish and not want to skip tracks. This is one of those albums. There is no reason to skip a track because there is no bad music on this album. "Imaginative" and "Creative" is the least I can say for how well this album is put together. Even the album art is interesting. Whether you like Psybient or not you owe it to yourself to give this a chance.
