Be creative with this awesome toy! My cat “killed” it too easily on the floor alone. She needed a longer prey sequence, so I enclosed it in an Amazon box adapted to allow space for the circling butterfly, with cut out windows. I stuck it to the floor when she “hunts”. Now she complains if I turn it off before she catches her and kills her prey. Once she “kills” it, I turn it off and give her a treat. Highly recommended! Update 10/10/20: My cat has not gotten bored with this at all. The base is sturdy. We turn it on several times a day, when she crouches outside the box because she is ready to “hunt”. Since purchase we have changed the batteries only 4 times. I bought refill butterflies with the toy, because one reviewer wrote he replaces the butterfly weekly: I don’t need to. The butterfly Is worn and torn, it’s now just a piece of shiny, fluttering plastic. As long as the shiny plastic keeps fluttering erratically on it’s wire, my cat will continue to attack it. She swats and stares at it, several times a day, occasionally batts at it, trying to get it to move. When I catch her at this, I turn it on and she’s back on the hunt, batting, pouncing, holding the wire down, chewing in the butterfly, then letting go so she can have another round. Every couple of days she hold the wire down so long she flattens it at the base and it won’t spin. I remove the butterfly unit, straiten the wire with needle nose pliers, and put it back in place. She follows me and reaches for it as I do this. When I put it back on the unit in spin position, and she returns to attacking, playing with, chewing on and eventually killing (stopping the movement of) her prey. I imagine she will eventually rip up and shred the butterfly so completely it comes off the wire. At that point I will replace the butterfly, but it is so firmly attached to the wire, it won’t be anytime soon. Even more highly recommended than when last posted.

Edit: I now understand why some reviews say that the butterfly is flimsy. The butterfly wings are made of a quite robust material but the wings are attached to the wire by two easily separated pieces of plastic that make up the butterfly's body. I tried snapping them back together but I think I made it worse and ruined the blue one - which of course is the one Baron enjoys more than the yellow one so I used a rubber band to tie the wings back onto the wire and he is pleased. My kitty doesnt like motorized toys very much but I am going to be out of town for a month and I wanted him to have a toy to play with when the cat sitter isnt around. I recently bought a butterfly toy on a stick and he LOVED it - it is made of feathers and he ripped one of the wings off the day I brought it home so I went in search of a more sturdy butterfly toy. I was skeptical of the motorized part and was delighted to find that the toy can still spin without the motor so if my cat was afraid of the motor he could still chase the toy around and it wouldn't be a total loss. The other good thing about the toy spinning without the motor is that your kitty can play while you're away and it wont run the batteries down! Durability/sturdiness: the butterfly and base feel much sturdier than I was expecting. I specifically looked for a toy that offers replacement butterflies because of how quickly my boy destroyed the feather one but I think these butterflies will last him a little while! I will update if something fails. I am thrilled with this purchase so that my boy will have something to keep him occupied while I am away!

Cats love it and it's entertaining. Sucks big time that it isn't a rechargeable battery. I am going through batteries like crazy with this toy. The butterfly also doesn't last long cause the cats bend it up. It's also rather loud which is a little annoying at times.

I’m seriously so pleased with this toy. My cat loves to play but I don’t have enough time to play with him as much as he’d like to. He’s always super picky about toys and will ignore anything besides the wand chasers and a cardboard box. I was worried this might not work, but figured I would take the loss because it’s so affordable. He absolutely loves it and has been playing with it for 30 minutes straight. Be warned, it does take a little bit for them to get used to the noise and learning how to use it! It took about 20 minutes of it running constantly before he finally played with it. He also didn’t start playing with it until I started wiggling it in his face and smacking it a few times myself. Overall, I would highly recommend this toy. It also seems very durable and safe to use.

le jouet préféré de mon chat , il l'adore , j'ai acheté plusieurs papillons car faut les changer de temps en temps ils finissent par casser , c'est le 2 ème que j'achète , le socle est très solide je le posé au dessu de son arbre il est tombé plusieurs fois et fonctionnait toujours mais la dernière fois il est mal tombé donc ça a cassé a l'interieur rien a voir avec la solidité du jouet , je recommande vraiment ce jouet , très bon article

This is awesome. I have 6 cats and they all love it. One of my boys had to have an eye amputated and only had half vision in his remaining eye. He went crazy for this. Best 25$ I’ve spent in a long time😻
