This works very well for me because It can be used for 2 levels of boost. Both the compression and overdrive add to the tube amp tone that I really love. With either or both of the channels activated, I can clean up the sound by rolling back on the volume at the guitar. I'm very happy with this purchase. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Visual Sound V2 Route 66 Overdrive & Compression *by T***Y on Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2011* I was very excited about getting this pedal, as it contained a compressor, an overdrive and a noise-gate (think pedal board real estate). Alas, I was to be disappointed. I plugged this into my Egnater 30 watt combo and my American Stat deluxe. When I struck a chord, and let it sustain, it would go "tick, tick, tick" as the sound level stepped down. I couldn't get beyond the stair-stepping quality of the noise-gate, and sent it back the next day. This is a fairly expensive item, and came poorly prepped from Visual Sound. I did get an email from the company saying that this was a "transitional" problem from an old model with an adjustment inside.
