There were little holes in each piece. I can't remember if there were plugs covering it or not, but I just poured bleach on the inside , laid it outside for it to soak, flipped it over after a few hours, and then rinsed it out with water. :) Hope this helps. **Q: Can my 3yr old fit her tiny furnitures inside/decorate & freely move around?** A: There is not a LOT of room inside the playhouse. I suggest you use the dimensions given for the playhouse, setup the toy furniture within the given area and judge for yourself. She could certainly "decorate" the walls, windows, etc. **Q: Can you get replacement parts?** A: Yes ... step2 customer service was great in helping me get a replacement door when the one it came with was damaged... also their website has a page where you can order replacement parts for their products. **Q: Would it be ok for a 5 & 6 yr old?** A: Thank you for contacting Step2. Intended for use by children from ages 2 years and up. The upper age grade is 6=7 years old.
