If so, what is the purpose of** A: No this is more a padded cushion that attaches to a wheelchair to keep the person from sliding out and have a place for their arms to rest **Q: My mother tends to lean forward when resting in her wheelchair. Will this provide her with something to lean on?** A: Yes I believe it would. I used this with my grandmother. She had dementia and Parkinson's. This kept her from falling out of her wheelchair when she wanted to pick at the floor or reach for things she imagined. **Q: Could the person in the chair insert and remove this by themselves easily?** A: They probably could if they were coordinated.
