Doesn't work perfectly with rag rugs. Also works on leather.
I bought several rag rugs. One of these I have on the floor with plush carpet using this product. It is a definite improvement. It still walks some, but I only have to adjust it every other day, and not by a large amount. A rag rug is probably not what it was intended for, hence the 5-star rating, as otherwise, I believe it will be the best I can find. I also plan to stitch the anti-slip product to the rug. I think that will make a difference also. On another note, the other purpose of these rugs was to cover my leather couch and recliner across the tops and down the front sides. I folded them around and tacked them together, but they were slipping off and I did not want to damage my leather. It occurred to me this anti-slip product may help. I tacked the other half I had left to one of my rag rug cover combinations. Again, not perfect, but OMG, stays in place for a couple days before it starts to move. Where she scratches and runs (while playing with the dog) is across the top and down the sides where typical animal protectors do not cover. I ordered a second one to finish the other two.

Perfection!
This non-slip pad is perfection. It does exactly what it was designed to do. I can't say enough good things about it. If you're on the fence take the plunge. You won't be disappointed. Though there were no instruction on how to use it or deploy it, with a bit of thinking you'll figure it out. Don't peel the backing off the pad until you get it in place. I have an oriental rug over carpet in my livingroom. The rug was always slowly moving across the carpet and bunching up on my couch. I have a chair on one corner that I thought would hold the rug in place, but that never worked. I would have to move the chair and drag the rug back into place every week. Now that this pad is in place the rug hasn't move at all. It stayed exactly where I put it. I can vacuum the rug with no issues and haven't had to adjust it once since using this pad. This is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Here is how I suggest you set it up: Vacuum the area onto which you're going to put the pad, and vacuum the bottom of the rug you're going to use it to hold in place. Both side of the pad are sticky, but only one side has a backing to peel off as the other side is folded onto itself for protection. I put the pad down onto rug I wanted it to hold in place with the protected side down. This allowed me to trim it with heavy duty scissors on two sides to make it just a bit smaller than the rug. Once that was done I rolled up the rug, put the pad down on the livingroom carpet with the unprotected side down while leaving the backing on the other side. This allowed me to smooth out the pad and help remove some of the creases created by it being folded to fit into the packaging. I then unrolled the rug back onto pad. This allowed me to make sure the pad was completely hidden by the rug. It also allowed me to walk over the rug to get the pad to stick to the carpet. I kept checking the pad to make sure it was smooth. If it wasn't I unpeeled the backing, pulled the pad from the edge, and then allowed the backing to fall back on it so I could keep adjusting both the pad and run. Once everything was where I wanted it, I rolled the rug up to one end, then with it still rolled up, rolled it just far enough towards the center of the pad to start peeling the backing off the top of the pad. Once about a quarter of the backing was peeled away I rolled the rug back to the peeled edge. I knelt on the edge of the rug that was now being stuck to the top of the pad and kept peeling the backing off the top of the pad while unrolling the rug. I did this all the way across the pad. This worked great and the rug hasn't moved since.

Good concept, has not moved on my carpet in 3 weeks. Requires additional tape to attach rug to mat.
The concept for preventing a rug from creaping when on a carpet is pretty good. However, the adhesive on both sides of the mat is not adequate to do the job. If there was twice as much adhesive I think it would be a great product. My rug did not stick (not enough adhesive on mat). I taped my rug to the mat at the ends and several places on the sides with double sided carpet tape. That appears to do the job, my rug has not moved in 4 days now. A 3 week of use update. This mat has been down for 3 weeks and has not moved at all in that time. I have tried other ways to prevent rug movement on carpet over the last year and nothing has worked except this mat. I have updated my rating to 4 stars. The mat still requires additional tape to keep the rug attached to the mat.

Good idea but unsafe
Purchased for my elderly parents to ensure rug-on-rug would be safe and secure. Put it down a week before moving them and everything looked great. Then each day we would go to the new place there would be random ripples; strange because they hadn’t moved in yet and nobody was walking on it. I straightened it out, hoping it would settle but after we moved their furniture on top again more ripples each day we have no idea how or why this is happening, but it’s completely unsafe for them and now we have to remove the rug altogether because the pad makes this so unsafe. This is not a rug issue but a pad issue - they’ve had the rug over 50 years and never had an issue like this. I would not recommend this product.

Pretty good, but not awesome
Trying to keep a throw rug used as a chair mat from scooting on carpet so bad. This came in the perfect size, just needed a little bit of trim. I could not get the pad to stick to the throw rug, so had to put permanent tape there. But the side meant for the carpet is just sticky enough to prevent a lot of movement. Think the pad could stand to be a bit thicker, but the material seems fine. Not a perfect solution for me, but has worked well for about a month.

Holds the rugs in place!
These are great non slip pads. I have bought several over the years to use on different types of surfaces with different rugs. I've used them on wood floors, marble floors, and one to hold a needlepoint rug smooth on a carpeted surface. They hold firmly in place and last for a long time. My oldest one has been in use for about 4 years and still works great. They're not for cushioning but they work great at stopping rugs from moving when walked on especially if you have dogs zooming around.

Works great for about 2 Weeks
When I first got this and installed it under some throw rugs on pile carpet I thought it was the greatest thing since lice bread. Not sure what I was thinking. When you get right down to it, this is nothing more than a really large piece of double back style material ( double back tape) that lays on a carpet underneath your throat. Like any tape applied to carpet carpet dust and fibers adhere to the tape fairly quickly and the tape becomes less sticky. After a couple weeks, these were OK but certainly not doing what we expected. After a couple months, they barely work at all. After a couple months, the throw rugs shift when you walk on them, although maybe not quite as much as they did without anything attempting to secure him. These were easy to cut, they were easy to install, and they’re easy to remove. If you need something for the short term, say for a party or something, these would be awesome. If you’re thinking of using them long-term, don’t bother wasting your money. I haven’t found a great solution otherwise but this certainly isn’t it.

Did not work on carpet, at all!
I wanted to stop a small rug from sliding on the carpet. It looked from the description that this would be the solution. Not at all. Does not work on carpet. It does work fine on on-carpet surfaces, but definitely not on carpet.

Awesome product
Purchased this after a different brand failed to hold my rug in place. This mat works so well and my hallway rug is now staying put. Wish I had bought this first!

These actually work!
I’ve been pulling out my hair trying to find something to make my small area rugs stay in place. Nothing has worked. Until now! These are amazing. A dry adhesive just stops the carpet from moving! Brilliant!
