I'm SO HAPPY I Bought This!
I've owned 2 iPods in my life - the Original 2GB Shuffle & the tiny 4GB Shuffle (the one with the controls built into the earphones). I've had these for many, MANY years - 10+. I used the 2GB one all the time! Alas, the battery life had come to an end... I tried to find a newer version, but they were so expensive! I asked relatives if they had an old iPod in a drawer somewhere that I could have - Nope. I looked into buying used or refurbished - Still pricey & "iffy" at best. I heard that Apple discontinued the iPod because everyone used their phone for music! Ugh! After a LOT of Amazon searches for any version of iPods ~ THIS one popped up!! I read all the Q&A's & reviews. After 2 weeks of deliberations, I bought it. I am SO happy that I did!!! I LOVE THIS THING!! The very FIRST thing I did was FaceTime my sister!! The SECOND thing I did was to Text Message my daughter & niece! ALL FOR FREE!! This was very exciting for me, since I've been paying every month to use these on my Android!! I never use my phone to make phone calls. Unless I'm traveling. Most of the people I want to communicate with are using iPhones. The rest can call me at home... But, since I AM kinda old, I did have some issues figuring everything out: #1. I've never owned or used an iPhone or other Apple device that used WiFi, so I was a little confused about iCloud storage & how to use it. I've always kept all my music on iTunes, but I didn't know how to get my music ONTO this device (I know... I'm old...) After a lot of self-imposed frustration, I finally figured out what I was doing. At least I think I did... Great!! #2. Why are there SO many Pre-Installed Apps on this thing?? Are people really checking their stocks while listening to music? I have to give this to my daughter to remove all the Apps I won't need - because I'm afraid of deleting something I might need or want. (Hey, Apple... Why must you assume that everyone already owns or knows how to use an Apple device? Don't you want us old people to give up their Androids & join your team? Can't you give a real, "Hard Copy" User Manual for Newbies??) Ok. All my nonsense aside, this is an AWESOME LITTLE DEVICE!! I couldn't be happier with this purchase!! I may just come back in a year or so & get a RED one with 128GB storage!! I want to wait & see how much I can get out of this 32GB device. (Apparently, I haven't really figured out the "Cloud" part of Storage...) The quality is great! The Battery Life is AMAZING!! It charges SUPER FAST!! The Camera is Awesome! FaceTime is Awesome - but using the App for more than 10-15 min. does cause it to get pretty hot & slows down the video a lot. But, it cools down quickly after disconnect. I can finally use Zelle!! It has a HEALTH App to track your diet & weight & water!!! It TRACKS your STEPS!! It Tracks your Screen Time - making it GREAT for kids! It's small enough to put in your pocket - but big enough to hold on. It does seem a bit "delicate", so I bought a case & glass screen protector to give it some "bulk". I'm pretty sure I'll have to come back & edit this review after I've been using my device for a while!

Great product for those with a large offline music library
I stream using Amazon Music through various devices (iPhone, Echo connected to a stereo system, etc.) and am very happy with that. However, I also have an MP3 library of purchased music and ripped CD's, some of which are not available for streaming. I've been using an iPod Classic for many years to manage and access that library, and it's worked great. However, that old mechanical device was getting a little long in the tooth (lots of 'restore and reloads' needed, etc.), so I took the plunge on this ultra large capacity iPod Touch. It is fantastic. Same wonderful iTunes front end for searching and playing artists, specific tunes or albums. It is very small and most importantly, using my Bluetooth connected Bose Sport earbuds, it sounds fantastic. No connection issues, and just pure, even wide open sound with plenty of bass. MUCH better sounding than streaming the same music using my iphone with Amazon Music through the same earbuds. It also has a headphone out, so I can easily hardwire connect to, for example, my legacy stereo system if I want. This is a very specific application, and I'm sure not many people would have a need for this. While I am amazed at the whole streaming thing and enjoy it, there is something also wonderful about having the offline song library that was built over many years available through a small, great sounding unit with much better fidelity. As a side note, I also made this a primary use music player by deleting most of the apps that were preloaded. I do not have it connect to email over wifi, etc. It makes for a very wonderful, simple, clean music player that way. Very pleased and highly recommended for those of you that have a large offline music collection.

I love this thing
It's so cute! This is now my remote. It controls my TV and all of its apps, my lighting, my sound system, my cable box, and Chromecast. My only qualm is that the sound quality from the headphone jack is not quite as good as previous generation iPods (specifically, the 5th and 5.5 gen iPods), but that's an unrealistically high standard given the Wolfson DAC on the 5.5 gen. I am waiting on an external DAC for this, which actually highlights the versatility of the iPod Touch. So if you don't like the built-in DAC, you can just bypass it with the Touch. This thing will play FLACs through VLC. It supports streaming services like Apple Music, YouTube Music, Spotify, whatever else. It runs the latest iOS. You can use it to watch Netflix while you're camping by using the huge amount of storage to save shows to the device. Overall, I'm finding it impossible not to love this iPod. Everything just works out of the box, I don't have to mess around with manual configuration, it just does everything. Excellent little device.

Ok so for those who want to know why anyone would buy one...
I had an ipod 6th gen since it came out, iv used it as a stand alone device for music/emails/notes/games etc... I have used it everyday possibly more than my phone. Why would apple revive this device? im not 100 percent sure but Im happy to own one again. The 6th gen battery was dying and could only last about 3 hours if i listened to music On top of that just recently it started to have a phantom touch/glitch to the screen. At that point i needed a new ipod. Some people ask, why not just add music to your phone? (oneplus 6t) thats because phones are heavy especially when you're doing activities like exercising. I admit its not for everyone, most people would just carry one device for all purpose, considering that phones are now having more battery life than they used to. Ipods now a days is a somewhat out of date but as most know apple is expensive and for those who want to see if they like IOS devices try an ipod as everything besides cellular, of course you can just download a phone number app to make calls to people using WIFI. Kids can also benefit from this as well since you dont want them having an ipad or a phone that can cost $500 plus. Lastly, if you are only using it for music and some apps id recommend just getting the 32gb memory otherwise its not worth paying more than $200 for one. Overall great product.

Very Good But Will Need Latest Update
I have been using my unused iPhone 3 for a music player but after 12 years the battery was failing and it was time for a replacement. I tried an MP3 player but it was difficult to use and wasn’t compatible with some of my devices. So my being a loyal Apple product owner, my choice would be another one. Though a bit pricey their ease of use is something I am familiar with. When I first received the iPad and loaded with my music library from iTunes via computer it didn’t have the latest update. So when playing music in shuffle mode it would occasionally “forget” and start playing alphabetically or go back about 50 songs and start playing over. It took about two weeks before the update was available (thanks so much, Apple). After that, the iPad performed as expected. I will point out that in order to install the update, a good portion of storage is required. I had to delete quite a few songs to make space. Once the update was in, storage space opened up and I reloaded the music with space to spare. I use it exclusively for music storage. I know I have cloud storage from Apple but I don’t always have access to it or know how get it to play.

Finally a decent replacement for the iPod Classic
Am so happy Apple has a mass-storage option again. My old iPod Classic has served me well and is still kicking. But it won't last forever, and I wasted a lot of time and money on two other new players that to this day do not work correctly. I want 2 things out of a player: large storage capacity and playlists that allow for unlimited songs. Amazing how hard it is to find that. Quite a few years ago, I ripped all of my CDs to .mp3s, a major project. I also listen to audio lectures and want to be able to separate them from the music via playlists. Together, they amount to almost 15,000 files. The iPod Classic has always handled them well, whether I wanted to listen to an album straight through, put all of my music on a playlist on random on a road trip, or listen to a lecture. I haven't heard the sound quality on the new iPod Touch, and I'll give the other players credit for better sound than the iPod Classic. But that's where the advantages end. After so many hours and failed attempts to set up the other players, I was overjoyed to be able to simply sync the new iPod Touch with an existing iTunes library. I hope it works well with whatever software Apple replaces iTunes with. The extra features are well and good. I plan to use this exclusively as a music player so don't need them, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup for phone features and apps. Of course, this ease-of-use comes with being a long-time i-device user. But I would say someone who isn't would still be able to set up and use the iPod Touch fairly easily. Good tagging/metadata is essential, and there is plenty of free software that helps with that out there. I am also not a streamer so can't speak to streaming options.

Awesome for adding modern features to an older car via aux port
I drive an older car but it has an AUX port where you can pipe in audio via a mini jack cable. I now can have Apple music, JRE podcasts and any other audio/video I want(audio mainly). This is great for cars where it's more of a hassle to replace the head unit and also it's much cheaper than buying a new car! I'm trying to build wealth(if you can call it that at a low level) so while I want to be driving a new car I know it's a horrible move financially. I have a great factory sound system relatively speaking(Luxury import with the upgraded audio system) and now I have access to modern audio and podcasts. I was using my older Iphone 6s this way but 2 things sucked about it, the reception was horrible and the battery was so old it barely lasted 30 minutes, buying this ipod touch fixed both of those issues and now I am very happy. This is why Apple still makes the Ipod Touch and why so many people don't "get it". Most people don't have an older car and don't want/need a dedicated device to modernize their car audio experience. For my situation, this is a great device. I understand this may not fill the same need that it does for me to you but this is a great example of why this device still exists. Most phones today don't have a mini jack output so they are out of the equation for me. I just use a hotspot on my phone to provide wifi to this device and boom...modern music and podcasts, no need to spend big bucks yet on a newer car, I got all I need...stay black.

Purchased ONLY to use with a medical app
I used an iPod 4 or 5 (and it was a POS) when I first received an implanted medical pain control device. But very shortly after it was first used, the iPod would gradually lose its charge faster and faster. Finally I was able to get their Tech Support on the phone and they said that they were not going to replace the iPod, they were only responsible for the implants and the software app, but they would be happy to replace the iPod for the “low” cost of $1200.00 for a 32Gb iPod Touch 7. Hrmmm, thanks but no thanks for the highway robbery so I purchased my own (by the way, they said that if I used the iPod for anything other than the app, their “warranty” was null and void) from my favorite place to shop AMAZON!!! where I got a much better price $$$, choice of color (space grey), and stayed at 32Gb because that is all I need. Ian also ALOUD to use the device for more than a medical device if I want because I bought AppleCare as well. SOOO, yes I am very happy with my iPod and would buy/recommend it to anyone else to use with implanted medical devices/medical applications. I really don’t use it for much more because I also own an iPhone 13 and an iPad v7. ALWAYS AN APPLE/iOS FAN AND PLAN TO STAY THAT WAY! ALWAYS AN APPLE/ɪOS FAN AND PLAN TO STAY THAT WAY!!!

It holds my whole music library
I have two other iPods . First is only 2 mb. does not hold much :). I bought next one and it was 8 mb . It held most of my auditory files. This new one.. WOW !! it holds all 3000 songs and my books only used up maybe 1/2 . So very happy. No longer have to pick and chose. Price was wonderful too. Added plus. It arrived fast. Only negative thing for me is, this one can not be used with my other iPod stereos . Not the same charge port. This one has port like samsung phones and not the wide Ipod port. oh well I still have the other iPods to use for those stereos . All in all. I'm happy.
