Presents a compact medical reference of diagnostic tests, reference values, and medical notes. Review: Maxwell's - I'm a third year medical student and this book is a great reference to have on the wards. So far, I've used it most for writing pre-op notes and making sure I don't forget anything on my H&P's. Keep in mind that it's small, only a few pages long, but all the information is very relevant and useful. It fits neatly into my white coat or scrub pockets. Some people have complained about the small writing on a background of different colors, but that never bothered me. I still see interns regularly referring to it. I would definitely recommend it and buy it again. Review: Read This Before Buying! - After reading all the positive reviews I decided to shine some light on the reality and clinical applications of this guide. If you are a 3rd or 4th-year medical student this guide only highlights very basic information that you most likely already know and won't find relevant. If you fall into this category please refrain from buying this guide as it would not give you an edge in any sense of the word, you are better off spending more money in a complete guide that contains relevant info. However, if you are a PCT, LPN, BSN, MSN or even an NP this guide could very well come in handy. This book is incredibly portable (weighs next to nothing) and fits perfectly into most scrubs and white coat pockets, My bf, who bought the book, thinks it is an excellent purchase for the price. If you are looking to find a guide with more pages and or references you would be hard pressed to get one at this price range, he would urge you to either make your own personalized guide or to save some cash and buy a higher end guide that would better serve its intended purpose. List of Cons 1. The pages do not come laminated and are prone to be stained. 2. Some of the info is outdated/incorrect. 3. Small Print. 4. Cheaply made. 5 Only 10 pages. 6. In most cases info is irrelevant. List of Pros 1. Cheap 2. Very portable fits in lab coat/scrubs 14x9cm (5.5x3.5 inches) 4. People won't think you are looking at facebook while using this guide vs your phone. The product description doesn't include the contents so I posted them here. Short and Sweet Pocket Size Medical Reference
This pocket medical reference came in handy on my days/nights in clinicals as a quick reference guide rather than looking up topics in a medical textbook. It's not completely exhaustive however it goes over a wide variety of medical knowledge that you should know or at least have an idea about. This pocket reference gives you the highlights you should know without going into great detail like a textbook. Very invaluable resource and a nifty size

Here is what's inside. Great quick reference.
Since the description doesn't really tell you what you get, and since the list on the cover is not comprehensive.... I thought I would list it in my review. This handy little book measures 14x9cm (5.5x3.5 inches) if you include the spiral. Easily fits into any shirt pocket... even if you are not wearing a whitecoat. Sturdy cardstock pages, but still weighs almost nothing. Contents: Common ECG rhythms Waveform measurement typical values Cardiopulmonary values 12 lead axis chart with deviations ACLS algorithms ACLS Cardiac Arrest for V.fib, , asystole ACLS Post Cardiac Arrest Care, Acute coronary syndromes, adult bradycardia, adult tachy, suspected stroke Canadian Neuro Scale, NIH Stroke Scale, Lab Values for Heme, Chemistries, blood gases, urine, toxicology, cs, synovial, endocrine Serum drug levels (therapeutic and toxic) for many common drugs. Super helpful!!
I purchased the Maxwell halfway through didactics in PA school with the intention of using it more during clinicals.... I actually recommend starting to familiarize yourself early on, especially with the orange section (normal lab value ranges). If you're able use this for any of your OSCEs, I'd recommend doing so in order to get into the habit of referencing it quickly and easily while prepping for oral presentations. Super helpful guide which was recommended by all of our faculty members as they used it religiously during clinicals as well.

Great for medical students
This reference booklet is extremely helpful to have. I carry it in my pocket daily as a medical student. The pages are conveniently color coded so that you can quickly flip to any particular section. The booklet is small in size - I keep mine in the front pocket of my scrub top.

Standard Issue for Med Students
Pros: 1. Color-coded for rapid access 2. Free pages in the back for additional notes. 3. Fits in the lab coat inside breast pocket 4. Hardy cover and spine protect the book against the wear and tear of med student life 5. Good assortment of material, I definitely used the development milestones, GCS, MMS. Cons: 1. Could have used some free space on each page for making notes about the material, or to add relevant equations to specific sections instead of writing them on the blank pages at the back. 2. More EKG notes would have been really helpful. Defining features of LBBB, RBBB, fascicular blocks, etc.

Great book, but the pdf version covers a lot more important topics!
This book is genuinely good. Covers all the important lab values, scales, etc. But the pdf version of this book (which is available for free online) covers more topics such as epinephrine dosing for anaphylaxis, rapid sequence intubation, and so much more! Not saying the hard copy isn’t good. It’s great. But the pdf covers more topics. So I would recommend getting the pdf version.
