The best power tool I own.
This tool was my first purchase on my home improvement journey. I used it non-stop for a year. In that time I have cut trim, stair treads, shelving, and plywood. I also used it to make a custom backsplash. It is a great tool, but some context is needed. 1) It has a laser sight, but it never proved necessary. 2) It is a mini-saw. Meaning, it will struggle to cut materials thicker than 1". This is rarely a concern unless you are framing. 3) pairing it with a framing square made an excellent edge guide. 4) The saw has angle and depth control. However, like all circular saws, they are less than accurate. You will need to set them with a gauge. Otherwise, there are no issues with alignment. 5) The saw is tough, but it can be broken. Specifically, the aluminum faceplate can be bent if dropped. This is the only issue I found with it's durability. The damage was my fault, not the tool's. Overall, it proves itself as a tool. Due to both their affordability and Utility, the majority of my power tools were purchased from Wen. Use: Carpentry. Materials: red oak, pine, birch, melamine.

STRONG QUALITY AFFORDABLE SAW
The saw itself seems good quality. It is easy to use, not too heavy, and powerful. I like the attachments and the case that it comes with. I don't use circular saws very much and this is my first small so I'm not an expert on them but it was easy to use and did well. The only problem I had was with the blade itself. It just didn't seem that good of quality and was having a little bit of trouble cutting through plywood. However, I think if you put a different brand blade it may serve you better.

Good small circular saw for small jobs
I purchased this saw for one particular job…. To cut off the bullnose on 20 original stair treads at my home (so that I could install hardwood re-treads). After cutting off the first two with a 7-1/4” circular saw and finishing the cuts on either end with an oscillating saw, I wanted something smaller that left a smaller amount to cut off with the oscillating saw. For the price, this saw got the job done and it was easier and more accurate than the larger circular saw. The saw had enough power to get through the 1” pine treads but struggled a couple of times. The laser helped to make for more accurate cuts on the individual stair treads. The saw could only get to within 2-1/2” or so of the end of the stair tread and I still needed to use an oscillating saw to cut the rest off. I knew I would still need to use the oscillatory saw but was hoping to get a little closer to the edge with this smaller saw. The rail that came with the saw seemed a bit flimsy and I chose not to use it to help make for straight lines (feared it might come loose and the cut line would drift). Additionally, I had to start in the middle of the tread and cut one way, and then flip the saw around and cut the other way. I would have rated this saw 4 stars on its performance alone, but when I consider the price, it warranted 5 stars. I would recommend this to others for small jobs, particularly in tight places.

Delivers as Advertised
I am a woodworker of 40+ years and have used many power hand tools. WEN makes a quality product that performs as advertised. I purchased the compact circular saw for versatility and convenience, especially with 4x8 sheets of wood and long boards. Much easier using this portable saw, than trying to cut large pieces on a table or chop saw. The saw cuts through 2x4(s) with ease and accurately. If you use the unit as instructed, then you should get good results. I did a lot of research before purchasing, and felt that this unit was the best value. It comes with a nice, sturdy carrying case, vacuum hose attachment, cutting guide, allen wrench and carbide tipped 24 tooth blade. I am very pleased with the choice I made and I believe you will be too.

Ineffective dust extraction
Disappointed: a decent saw but the dust extraction is completely ineffective. The dust port in the shroud is very narrow and makes a 90 degree turn, causing it to clog. The skinny little hose that attaches to the saw and a shop vac is also made with material so thin that it keeps collapsing in on itself. So there is no dust extraction. Just throw the saw’s “hose” away, put a plug in the extraction port and use your third hand to run the shop vac hose next to the saw.

Works great, even for a lighter approach to heavier tasks
Used this to get a good, clean cut on a butcher block countertop. Everything went fine until the saw just stopped progressing. It still ran, but it felt like something was snagging preventing it from moving farther. Couldn't figure out why. Used it for a few other projects and the same thing happened. FINALLY I figured it out. It comes with a 24t blade, which is rather coarse, but still makes a nice clean cut when it's working. What was happening is that too fast a cut with such a coarse blade puts a bigger load on the saw. The drive shaft on the saw has two flats to locate and drive the retention washer, BUT NOT THE BLADE. And the blade retention screw was only snug. So when the going got tough, the blade stopped but the drive shaft didn't. I tightened the blade screw (left hand thread) and it worked fine. It's not for heavy-duty work, but now it's my go-to circular aw even for heavier tasks because it's easier and more maneuverable to use. It just takes a lighter touch. All the accessories work well, with the exception that the vacuum attachment could work better.

My new favorite saw!!
I bought this saw and was a bit skeptical until I took it out of the box and used it. To the people who commented about how heavy it is, obviously they never used a circular saw before cause not only is this light, but it's so easy to maneuver with one hand, and it's very powerful. I cut 20- 3/4" sheets of plywood and countless 2×4's effortlessly and the blade is still far from dull. I love that there's a case for it too. Very handy and and all around great saw. Let's just put it this way... I never used my cordless Milwaukee M18 circular saw again since I bought this. Thank you Amazon!!
