Although the book does suffer from the usual eBook style punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors (and apparent overall lack of sufficient editing), its author still manages to not only come off as quite a competent storyteller, but he also does a more than admirable job of capturing the reader's interest and very firmly holding it, from the first sentence to the very last.I really enjoyed reading Haunted Valley, and despite it being such a short book, I honestly could read it again and again. In fact, before writing this review, I actually read it twice. And although it isn't a particularly in depth look at the overall Bigfoot phenomenon, per say (given that it mostly only focuses on the Yacolt, aka "Haunted Valley" incidents), there is still quite a lot of interest within these fascinating pages. Mind you, there's nothing particularly fanciful or far fetched about Mr. Jevning's level headed and matter of fact approach to the subject matter, but that doesn't stop the book from including quite a few intriguing and decidedly hair raising Bigfoot encounters.The content should be sufficiently eerie for most casual readers, of course, and given that Mr. Jevning once worked with early Bigfoot research pioneers John Green and Rene Dahinden, AND started his own investigation team (the Pacific Coast Sasquatch Investigation Team, or PCSIT) way back in 1975, I would say that all of the above lends even more credibility to this brief, but exceptional account. An updated edition of Haunted Valley is reportedly on the way from the author, but until then, don't hesitate to read this great little book. It's a definite must for anyone even vaguely interested in cryptid creatures, or the paranormal in general. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Squatching in the Yacolt Valley *by Y***B on Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2014* Haunted Valley is a tiny book written by William Jevning, founder of the then Pacific Coast Sasquatch Investigation Team, who was a protege of Rene Dahinden, a famous Sasquatch investigaror. The main story line is that of an investigation by William Jevning in 1989 of fairly long-term encounters with a sasquatch family visiting local farms for food. The book is written in a matter-of-fact, call-it -for- what-is manner and style, which some have found boring, but I did not. I prefer the more factual based accounts of sasquatch encounters rather than the personal narratives of sasquatch encounters, which are very common today.What I liked about Haunted Valley is that it shed some light on sasquatch encounters in the Yacolt Valley in Skamania County in the Mt. St. Helens region, an area reputed to have had numerous sasquatch encounters in the past and today.What I did not like was the lack of page numbers for reference, the lack of publishing information inside both covers, the tiny size of the book, and the formating of the last page where the final paragraph and a half were situated in the middle of the page. Haunted Valley is okay, but I recommend that it be purchased as a Kindle e-book if possible. This book could be an excellent source of fact-based stories of sasquatch encounters if it were updated and expanded considerably as I suspect that the sasquatch encounters in the Yacolt Valley have not diminished with time. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Short informative Bigfoot book, some improvement recommended *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2015* Haunted Valley is a short Bigfoot book filled with details of investigations in the Yacolt Valley of Washington state. Mr. Jevning is an experienced Bigfoot investigator mentored as a teenager by the late Rene Dahinden.. His vast experience is shown in the thorough investigations he conducts. He has written other Bigfoot books that are also very informative. As a constructive criticism, there are numerous spelling and punctuation errors in this book. Not everyone remembers English rules from school, but why not have someone knowledgeable proof-read a book before publishing it? The plural of sasquatch is sasquatches, not sasquatch's. Although the book is relatively short at 48 pages, I think it would be easier to read if it were broken down into several chapters.
