    Modern Poetry Worth Reading

Not gonna lie, I hate today’s poetry scene. It seems to be diary entries with weird spaces and doodles; no talent required. However, this is not like the rest of modern poems. This is real poetry. Raw, descriptive, rhythmic and eviscerating, it’s like rain after a drought. On top of that, the author comes from my neck of the woods. I’ve always wanted to pursue a poetry career, and this gives me hope. If she can be this talented and successful, maybe I can too. I throughly enjoyed this book and read several poems aloud to friends and colleagues. If you’re wanting something of quality, this is it.

I have been binge reading poetry books for months and this is the first one that completely stopped me in my tracks. Several times while reading, I had to set the book down and just...stare at the wall. Think for a bit. I highly recommend this book. As soon as I read the few poems available in the free download portion, I knew I needed to buy the whole thing. This book is going to stay in my head and in my heart for a very long time.
