Nordic Ware Classic Metal 9x13 Covered Cake Pan

Pretty cool 9x13 metal pan with a metal cover! Looks very functional and utilitarian. Sharp edges on the cover edges though, which I may have to sand a little.

I, too, thought it seemed thin and flimsy when I first got the pan, but after using it a few times I absolutely love it. I do use it for baking cakes and storing them in the pan using the lid. Cakes bake up perfectly in the pan. The cake plus frosting stay moist and don't dry out when keeping the lid on during storage. It's easy to get the lid on and off once you figure out how to do it. The lid has one end that is used to open it and the other end has to hook onto one end of the pan. It doesn't just pry off any which way. I don't bake cakes often, but they keep for days perfectly in this pan with the lid! I suppose this pan would dent if I threw it around and dropped metal tools on it, but that hasn't happened and it has not been dented, so far. I guess it has scratches on it, but metal pans do scratch over time. But the scratches are minor and cosmetic only and don't impair the function of the pan. I haven't washed it in the dishwasher; I wash it by hand, which is how I wash all my baking pans and trays. It probably also depends on what kind of dishwasher detergent is used, as some detergents are more corrosive to metal than others. I avoid products with citric acid as I have vintage silverware and citric acid is hard on silverware. I have not used it to bake a casserole in and I imagine that some foods might become stuck on, but that is the nature of the metal without some kind of non-stick coating. I don't want non-stick coating, so I don't bake something that is going to get all blackened and baked on. If that happened, I would soak it and use something like BarKeepers Friend. Over time, aluminum can lose its shine due to use but that is normal wear and tear. We really love this pan!

Heavy duty, lid snaps on tight

My cabinets are full of Nordic Ware bakeware and I ordered this pan because I needed another 9x13 pan. The lid looked like an interesting bonus. The lid however is difficult to take off and put back on. I thought maybe it was just me since I have arthritis in my hands so handed the pan to two other people and both struggled to get the lid off. It is also somewhat sharp around the edges. Not "cut your finger" sharp but sharp enough to be uncomfortable when it presses into your flesh. I probably won't use the lid much! This is a lightweight pan, not to be confused with their professional grade series. It will be good to take to potluck dinners but won't last as long as their heavier pans will. For the price I paid though I feel I got my money's worth. I need another 9x13 pan but probably won't buy this specific one again because of the lid.

Lid was hard to remove at first but I got it and this pan is really great. Bakes very evenly with clean lift-out of your bake.

Excellent! Like the fact that I can keep my food in the same pan after cooking.. just cover the lid. Heavy duty.. it's not flimsy.. only catch: does not go in dishwasher

I have had one of these cake pans for almost as long as we have been married! 63 years! Have given one as a gift for 3 bridal showers. Just ordered another one for grandsons fiancé’s bridal shower. It is great!

Not a heavy pan for roasting but it works fine for brownies or cake. The cover is a nice option as well. Great to bring to a party.

It's a really well made pan that comes with a strong lid that fits securely. What's not to love.

I like the two piece thing, but the pan and lid are quite thin. Also, after the first use some dark spots appeared on the surface of the pan, and this is given the fact that no food actually came in contact with the pan as it was wrapped in a baking bag (no acidic foods were baked).
