Review: unstable - I had been looking for a jack to replace my old Craftsman jack that I have had for 15 years. Also, I needed one that would go down lower than the Craftsman, and this one seemed ideal. The Larin MAL-2C was appealing to me because it would lower to 2 1/2 inches, plus it had stabilizing arms that would seem to make this jack rock-steady. Also it came in black and chrome which I thought would look cool. This thing is anything but rock-steady. I have a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe which weighs over 800 lbs, so it seems this jack is well within it weight limit. NOT SO MUCH! Even with the stabilizing arms fully extended and the jack up to it's first stopping point, my bike wobbled back and forth to the point that I cannot trust this thing. The arms that raise the bike up were flexing and I felt that at some point it would bend or even break, this thing seemed dangerous so I sent it back for a refund. If you have a lighter weight bike it might work out for you, but not for me. Another thing to note, when lowering this jack with my bike on it, it went down way too fast to suit me. There doesn't seem to be any way to slow the rate of descent. Not very comforting to have a bike come slamming down to the floor.
Review: The jack came with several issues. - I have still not put my bike on this Jack. I will update when I do that. One of the two screws required to assemble the jack was sheered on one side and I could not use that screw for installation. The two phillips head screws that you must undo to connect the release pedal to the jack was already stripped before I even put my screwdriver on it. Luckily I was able to undo one of them and rotate the plate 180 degrees to put in the cross piece and then rotate it back and screw back the one good screw. Lastly, you cannot extend one of the stabilizing legs because the bracket that retains it was crushed inwards preventing the leg from coming out.

### ⭐⭐ The jack came with several issues.

I have still not put my bike on this Jack. I will update when I do that. One of the two screws required to assemble the jack was sheered on one side and I could not use that screw for installation. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Works well, good value for price (2006 Kawasaki Vulcan EN500)
*by L***H on October 12, 2013*

I bought this to lift a 2006 Vulcan 500EN, a bike whose exhaust headers and oil pan extend below the frame. It's working great for this, but only after I had modified the included adapter quite a bit. The adapter now fits, the bike feels solid on the jack, and on that account I'm satisfied with the purchase. I've used it to lift my bike on 3 or 4 separate occasions now, and it's made changing the oil and cleaning my chain and spokes so much easier. The jack raises smoothly. It comes down fairly quickly (and a little bit "bouncily") but can be managed fairly easily. (Incidentally, I was instructed never to take the jack all the way to the last "notch" because of how it would likely lock the mechanism. Yikes!) The stabilizer arms perform their task well. The wheel locks work... sort of. Once your bike is in the air, don't expect it to turn "on a dime" like that outrageously-expensive American-built jack that costs almost three times as much claims to be able to do. Still, you may be able to roll the jack a little one way or the other--for example, to get it against a wall for storage. I haven't tried that, yet. As this is my first motorcycle jack, I don't have anything else to compare it to. Still, I can comment generally on packaging and overall build quality. You take a chance when ordering something big and heavy like a motorcycle jack, because lord knows you don't want to have to pack the thing up again and send it back, especially when the packaging is disintegrating! Indeed, the box arrived looking fairly beat-up, with a 5-inch tear/hole in the top. Inside, all the parts were there, but had been jostled about enough to break a plastic knob on one of the stabilizing arms, and bend the metal tab that holds the retracted arm to the main assembly so that the stabilizer arm would not extend. Other bits appeared scuffed--not quite as beautifully-engineered in appearance as the product photo would have you believe. As instructed in the included assembly pamphlet, I phoned the manufacturer. Well, they seemed about as keen on just sending me a shinier, better-packaged jack, as I was on sending this one back to them (or Amazon). But they did instruct me to pound out the metal tab, and they put a new plastic knob in the mail for me. And thus, my jack was "good as new"--if not quite the chrome-and-black garage display piece I had hoped for. While the price is competitive, I think I still have to knock off one star for less-than-perfect build quality, and another for shoddy packing by the manufacturer. Yet if I had to do it over, and still didn't have $500 to blow, I would buy this jack again because of the adapter and how it bolts solidly to the main frame. I actually feel a little guilty giving only 3 stars, because it really is working for me, but I'm trying to be objective. If you need help on fitting it to your Vulcan, send me a comment and I'll see about providing a pic of how I did it.
