## Description

From Caran d'Ache - the Full Blender! It's a colorless oil-wax medium for blending, dry mixing and intensifying colors. This single tool combines the mixing and unifying properties of a blender with a burnisher that consolidates and adds gloss. When applied over color pencils or watercolor pencils the pigments become even more lightfast and watercolor pencils become permanent. Since there is no case, 100% of the material is available for use. It is a unique medium and the ideal complement to Caran d_Ache color pencils, graphite and wax pastels.

Review: Best colored pencil blender! - What can I say? These are THE best blending pencils I've found! I've tried many brands (Prismacolor, Derwent, etc) and keep coming back to these. They work well with ALL my pencils, including Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Pablo, Derwent Coloursoft, Lyra Rembrandt Polycolors, and even Prismacolor. What I like about these blenders is that they feel very smooth and buttery to use. The Prismacolor blender feel so scratchy I can't stand to use it and honestly feel like it's just going to tear my paper up if I press down much at all. This one I can use anywhere from light to heavy pressure depending on the effect I want. It BRIGHTENS my colors just as much as it blends and smooths them. It is somewhat fragile, since it's not cased in wood. If it breaks, you can just sharpen the little piece and stick it in a pencil extender and it works just as well as before.
Review: universal - There is no one blender for all projects. Each blender serves a diff purpose for each brand. I love these and the prisma colorless blender. This blender looks more professional when blending FC Polys and the finish looks better compared to blending with the Prisma blender. Both work well but it depends on the look you want to achieve really. I love how this is ALL blender and no wood casing and sharpening is easy. Very diff feeling without a casing though. With Prisma, whatever color you blend tends to stay on the blender and you have to have a extra paper handy for scribbling the colors off before you move onto another color. With this blender, it doesn't matter what brand of pencil you blend out because it is always clean when your done so I find that a plus. This blender blends out Prisma, FC polys/classics, and Staedtler colored pencils. I am still waiting on my Caran D'ache luminance pencils to arrive so I can test those as well with both blenders. The Prisma blender works better on their own products and not as universal like this blender. Hope this helps.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone actually tried this blender with any caran dache colored pencils for instance their Luminance or Pablo's?**
A: I've used it with CD Pablo, FC Polychromos and Prismacolor and across the board I find that the result is often grainy looking and there is a LOT of dust. Personally, my go to is now the Prismacolor Colorless Blender for a more even finish with less effort exerted.

**Q: Would this work for wax resist techniques in watercolors and water-soluable pencils and crayons?**
A: I bought it to use as wax resist with watercolors and it works very well.

**Q: Can you layer color on top? So lay down color, blend and then lay down more color on top of the blended pencil?**
A: I think the idea behind a blender pencil is to enhance the pencil color. If you color, then blend, then color again, the only color you've enhanced is the first color you layer down. In blending two Derwent colors (pimento and light sand), I found I liked the outcome when I laid down one color over the other first before blending. You'll have to experiment to see which effect works best for you. Good luck!

**Q: Since this contains wax as well as oil, will it cause a "wax bloom" over oil-based pencils, such as FC Polychromos?**
A: Ignore that answer “This does not contain wax or oil.” since it says right in the description that it does. Or they need to revise the description. It must have it since it leaves a gloss finish. It’s not a blending stick. They should remove her answer or fix the description.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun product! Breaks easily so you have to be careful.
*by 1***L on April 8, 2016*

I'm giving 5 stars.. I did read the reviews but was too rushed when it came that I broke the pencil when opening.. SO I just sharpened the halves & it works GREAT! I'm new to using these brighten pencils & other blending pencils so it's been fun to play around with things. It did the job brightening and depending on the color it blended it pretty well. I can see where some of the others blended better but these worked great too. I find that each blender pencil I bought several to try) blended a bit differently which is nice to try with my colored pencils. I did notice that it smeared the gel pen so I don't think I let it dry enough.. Useful info for next time! Like I said the pencils break easy so you just have to be careful. It would be nice if there was case of some kind to store them so they don't break more... Trying to still figure that out.. As I'm writing this I wonder if they'd be better in an extender, maybe I'll try that next! Anyway fun product, impressed & will purchase again! :-)
