3rd Grade Jumbo Reading Success Workbook

This is great for summer, when the kids have lots of time on their hands. I date the worksheet (2-3 worksheet pages per day), so the kids know what they have to work on that day (or for the week). Keeps them a little busy with productive work, and not have their minds backslide too much over the summer. Very good balance between this and the math workbook by also Sylvan. Plenty enough worksheet pages for the entire summer. I also encourage the kids with "COUPONS", when they are up-to-date each week with their workbooks (both Reading & Math). They earn meal of their choice coupons, or specialty drink coupons, etc. (whatever helps motivate and encourage them the most).

If you are a parent who worries about schools "teaching to the test" than you should supplement your child's learning with a Sylvan education. Besides, what's not to love about a 300-plus page workbook whose tagline is "Activities, exercises, and tips to help catch up, keep up, and get ahead." Because this is 3-books-in-1 (spelling, vocabulary and reading comprehension), this workbook looks intimidating. Tear out the pages you want to cover so your child doesn't feel overwhelmed by the enormous content. Although, catchy section titles like "Verbs, Verbing and Verbed," or "I Spy Long "I"" and "A, E, I, O, Uh?" along with "Phooling Around with "F"" and , "It's Not Easy Being "E"" will put your young scholar at ease. I loved working this book with my third grader. The English language, with its silent "e" words, homophones, compound words, palindromes, double entendres and onomatopoeia words should be fun to learn and share. This workbook covers the rules (consonants, vowels, apostrophes and root words) while also bringing the quirky, wacky and devilish side of the English language to life. Enjoy!

Educational worth buying

I think this product is a great review for summer. As a teacher, I find it important to keep the skills learned fresh!

Reading is one thing that my son currently struggled with in school. This workbook actually helped him with this as well as allow him to enjoy and better understand reading without getting overwhelmed when going over it with him. It also gave me a better understanding of where he actually is reading wise for his age and school grade.

This is such a wonderful tool and supplement to what is being taught in the classroom. I have seen great improvement. The content material is great, the worksheets keep students engaged and more likely to remember techniques that will use during exam time. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to ensure the kids around them have the right tools to be successful with whatever the test or task is at hand.

This book is worth every penny. From the reviews to the new learning materials, everything is just perfect. I can’t wait to see my son’s improvement in reading. Although my son is a straight A student when it’s come to Math, I will still checkout the math book from this author. I love it.

My son struggled with both language arts and math during his 3rd grade year. I purchased this workbook to help reinforce what he learned so that perhaps 4th grade won't be so hard. We are working with the workbook as well as hooked on phonics and a math workbook I purchased through Abeka. So far I think the practice is helpful this summer. He really gets excited when he gets the answers right. I definitely recommend this material. Some of the work is actually a little too difficult so that keeps him challenged.

This book is great practice for my 7 years old son. The instructions are good and easy for him to understand. I am planning to buy more Sylvan books for my daughter too. As always, shipping was speedy and it arrived in a timely manner.
