No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner

I used this by cleaner by hand applying with brushes and swabs as my procedure for a few months. It was good, and I was satisfied. When I do a heavier cleaning, I generally ultrasound my pistol and small rifle parts, and use a 1/2 oz. of simple green to 24 oz of water. It generally does a decent job. I was doing my usual one day and for some reason decided to splash a little Hoppes #9 in the already operating tank with the Simple Green, and all of a sudden that bath came alive! Soon, the top of the water became foamy with dirty coagulated oil beads, lots of it. I left it run a minute or so and pulled the basket up, I was astonished. The metal was shining bright like I never saw with just the simple green solution. I’ve done it this way since, and it’s been phenomenal. Any minor residue left wipes away. I always rinse thoroughly, dry thoroughly and oil everything generously. My guns have never been so clean. I’ve seen no resultant issues whatsoever with composite or metal parts degradation. Try this if you can. It works!

This cleaner is great. It seriously gets off carbon. My dad has a Glock 48 that had some carbon stains from years of use. Especially on the end of his grey slide and this stuff reversed the aging of his gun. Every time we go out and shoot and I clean it for him the gun looks newer than before. Totally removed the carbon from the slide. I have a Glock 20 and not only does the outside of the gun look like new still but so does the inside. The smell is pretty strong, but goes away quickly after the gun sits a bit. At that point you can only smell it if your nose is right up to the gun. It sucks when you get it on your hands. I usually clean on a towel and I’ve designated a towel for gun cleaning now because the first towel I used the smell didn’t come out in the wash so yeah. Cleans great though

I weirdly like the smell of this stuff. It gets all grease & gunk off of components & makes cleaning so much easier & quicker. I suggest getting little cloth pads & Q-Tips that you can soak in this stuff & then wipe down what you need to clean. Please remember that you’ll need to regrease/lube whatever you cleaned off because this will absolutely take all of it off.

Great for carbon deposits removal. I'd say it has moderate efficacy - depending how dirty the gun and how clean you want it to be, you may want to do several cleaning passes. Just make sure to ventilate your room before your lovely wife starts asking question why the room smells with solvent. Bottle is nice and secure, doesn't leak or anything. For this solvent-based liquids I personally prefer to have simple cap instead of spray - you don't want to get this volatile liquid in mist form in your room. Just dip the patch in the bottle and run through the bore/gun - nothing can be more easy than that. Before I used CLP for cleaning, I tried using solely this one - my personal take is that Hope's is better. Do cleaning with this, remove all carbon from the bore, slide, frame and action, and once it all dried out - just spot-lubricate whatever needed.

Can they make this scent in a cologne!? I just want to bathe in it! Been using this stuff my whole life and it works just as good as it always has. Lots of new companies out there making fancy new solvents, but no thanks... don't need to reinvent the wheel. It worked for our grandpa's and it works for us. I just wish it still came in a glass bottle.
