Dorman 926-450 Driver Side Windshield A-Pillar Molding Compatible with Select Ford Models

The trim on my driver side front window flew off while driving home. I looked on-line to see how hard it would be to do this myself. It looked fairly simple so I started searching for product options. There are various 3rd party options for this particular part. Every manufacture has different adhesive options. Some products expect you to buy the tabs separately and some expect you to apply a liquid adhesive. I went with the Amazon recommended option which was this one. This product had every thing needed the tabs were pre-installed and they had a double adhesive tape for applying the trim versus using some glue. The whole install was fairly easy to install and took me just 15 min. I did spend 30 min researching online videos since Dorman has no instructions for installation. Most places that carry these DIY products have video resources Dorman has none. My online search gave me three good tips. The first tip there is a tab at the very top of the window trim that is in the car itself and not part of the window trim kit. If you don't remove it first then you will never be able to install the trim. I had to pry it out with a screwdriver and break the clip to get it out. The other tip is to start the install at the bottom of the window and work your way up first . The bottom needs to be in the right place for all the screw holes to line up for the install kit same goes for the trim molding that snaps on top of the install kit start at the bottom. I was also warned to not over tighten the screws that attach the install kit for fear of snapping the plastic. The Dorman plastic was very sturdy I think you would have to crank down really hard for this to happen. Those are my tips I would recommend using this product and think anyone that can use a nut driver or socket set can easily do this install themselves. Now only time will tell on how good this products really is and if it everything stays secure.

The quality of this replacement part is good (very close to OEM) and the fit on my 2015 Explorer is perfect. I liked that the exposed part of the trim was covered by a cling film to prevent any marks until the trim was installed. This is a completely functional and affordable replacement part. (Tip: when removing the old trim start at the top (roof) and when installing align the pin closest to the roof first.)

I had to purchase this item twice. The first ones adhesion didn't stick well and it blew off while driving. Other then that it's great.

But something else or super glue this thing down. Molding is easy to install, fits properly as I replaced both sides at the beginning of November. Now, going down the highway at about 65 mph, it literally broke in half and went flying down the interstate…. Outside of my “return” window so I’m SOL it seems. Don’t buy, cheap.

For the most part these replacment mouldings were good and installed pretty easy. My only complaint would be minor QA problems they seem to have in their factory. Rubber and adhisives not trimmed neatly. I had to clean up things with a razor blade. They do look good now and hopeully stay attached.

Read all available online installation advice, namely placement of aftermarket adhesives. It was a decent fit - maybe not showcar quality but fine for your daily driver. Includes all weatherstrips and clips (many do not). Installation was quick and easy. I also added a small line of clear adhesive to the bottom to, hopefully, prevent this one from flying off like the last one did. Last one was the original, lasted 100,000 miles until it had to removed/reinstalled for a windshield reacement.

Look, just like it didn't pictures. It fit perfectly to my car, easy to install very happy.

Package was tore up, but other than that, The product came in looking great no cracks. Nothing brand new easy to install took like 10 minutes. Really good Quality would buy again if passenger side was broken.

Very comparable fit as original is for half the price. Easy install.
