With their debut release, 2010's now infamous Demo, Deafheaven showed early signs of a unique and refreshing band, weaving complex song structures into absolute epic proportions that simply defied genres. In advance of the upcoming second full-length release slated for late 2013, Deafheaven's Demo has been remastered and will be 'available for the first time ever on 12" vinyl via Sargent House. Review: I Absolutely LOVED This! - Deafheaven is a "Post-Metal/Shoegazer/Stoner/Progressive"-type band in the vein of Isis, Neurosis, and Pelican (but with vocals). It is also my new favorite as of this short but epic album. The vocals are very "black-metal-ish", like something you would hear on an Immortal album, only distant-sounding as they are relatively low in the mix. The music is wholly reminiscent of the aforementioned bands, and together it creates a beautiful, atmospheric wall of sound that is just incredibly enjoyable. Listen to the samples (which are fairly representative of the songs despite their epic length) and if you aren't completely turned off by the style, GET THIS NOW! The technicality is still there this group ... - I have really dug Deafheaven for awhile now but I was pleasantly to find this demo on here at such a good price. The technicality is still there this group has grown throughout the years but they have stayed true to their sound and the greatness they started out with. This is very apparent in this earlier recording of theirs.
