Out of all the yerbas I’ve had, this one so far is my favorite. It’s not too bitter, great taste, and last longer than other yerbas. Love it!

Reviewed: Canarias- Serena Yerba Mate 1kilo This is my favorite Mate, it has less caffeine than the regular Canarias. Serena means serene, this is the more "relaxed" blend. By American standards, it still packs a huge punch though, so beware, you will not sleep. Legend has it, it is made up of mostly Mate with lemon balm, passion fruit, mint, and lime. This can be seen on the front, it says "conpuesta con hierbas" - Compounded with herbs. It is not 100% mate but still taste like it, especially to the American pallet. If you have never had Mate, then beware, you should probably buy Mate tea bags instead. This is called Mate Compuesto. I see a ton of reviews stating that this is nasty or made wrong. Mate is simply a unique drink that by most standards is "weird" or "nasty". I would normally take off stars for a product that is so grossly misrepresented but I love it!!!!

Good stuff. Prefer the original yellow Canarias as the sereña is a much more mellow flavor. I like the strong stuff. Bag was busted open a bit when it arrived but not a huge deal just taped up. I use this stuff pretty fast so not a huge problem.

I really liked this mate. In hindsight, this was my first mate coming from being a longtime coffee drinker accustomed to the occasional black coffee when creamer ran out or I was feeling bold. I just say the “bitterness” claimed to be present in the mate is definitely there and similar to the sour taste coffee gives. If you can tolerate black coffee you can tolerate this. After a week of drinking I was further able to get over the bitter flavor and taste the nice tropical notes. The strength of the mate is also pretty moderate coming from coffee but definitely a “calming” stimulating effect that is different compared to jittery coffee. Tastes good cold and warm! I also feel it’s worth mentioning I’ve tried 2 yerbas besides this one of from taragui and rosamonte I must say this is still a distinct favorite

Health benefits

Cannot go wrong with Canarias, it is very smooth and has nice smell. Good quality and gives great energy, not too strong and not too smooth. Price is similar to other brands but it is worth it, will keep buying it.
