Jack Ryan Season 1 [DVD] [2019]

This is crafted with a level of attention to detail I have never seen before. Most wonderful and unexpectedly impressive! The depth and numberr of of characters is wonderful. The dialogue is clever, the plots credible, complex, huge in scope. Many neat twists, engaging human issues done with feeling, neat action, human villains. The writers display great imagination in every nook and cranny of their work here. (Everyone likes the helicopter scene). There is no 'Deus Ex Machina' (cheats), it is all worked through and done carefully and coherently. Every win is earned, good and bad. The characters' intelligence is obvious and we follow their logical steps, laid out clearly. One criticism I understand is the Greer character. Not at all Clancy's admiral. Not someone you could imaging one day ever going on to be a CIA 'director of Operations' or NSA. A new gung-ho creation of an aging Jwmes Bond reluctantly consigned to a desk, happy to leave High Value prisoners (to escape) while he goes to join in a Special forces gun fight. Still his is a good character whose more realistic views balance Ryan's boy-scout naivety. Next-gen spy drama without any sci-fi. On steroids. Hugely entertaining HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

good set of films

Bought as a gift, but I have been watching it, only a couple of episodes into it, but so far so good.

Great story line. Strong characters played by good actors. A nice mix of humour and seriousness in a tense story. Definitely binge worthy. I did find Jack's moral compass a bit much at times. I'm glad Tom Clancy is involved in the series. Brings an element of the true essence of the Jack Ryan stories. Can't wait for season 2.

Having previously read and enjoyed all of Tom Clancy’s ‘Jack Ryan’ series of books, I was naturally drawn to this made-for-TV production. I have to say, despite only viewing two thirds of the set, I haven’t been disappointed. Although Ryan is here portrayed more as a field operative than an analyst, the plot line is well-paced and believable with sufficient action sequences. Looking forward to the second series.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Jack Ryan series. Brought up to date from the books it works well. John Krasinski is superb as Jack Ryan. The script is well written and gripping. We binge watched the whole series start to finish having decided initially to only watch part 1 we couldn't tear our eyes away from the screen. The books are brilliant and I can honestly say the series is too. If you are a fan of Tom Clancy this is definitely worth watching. We were initially worried it would be trash in the same way a lot of series coming out of American are at the moment, but this was excellent.

I've watched many series like this --- this is one of the very best.

Great show!

When I purchased the video I did not realize it came from another country, and would not play on my DVD player. I hated to return the DVD to the seller, and after discussing this problem with my wife we decided to try and find a DVD player that would play all regions. When I found out the DVD would not play on my old DVD player I contacted the seller, but because it was a weekend they were closed for business. Looking at the description for the product, I discovered that it would not play in the U.S. We have purchased other videos that came from outside the U.S. and returned them. I feel forcing the buyer to upgrade DVD players, or any other electronic devise to meet the standards of another country is really unacceptable.

I bought this item in the United States and fully intended to use it in the United States. However, it was not formatted for the US. This is totally unacceptable. I was busy buying Christmas gifts and the formatting info was not prominent enough. Also, there was no US formatted DVDs available to purchase. Very inconvenient because now I have to return the DVD and there wasn't one for a Christmas gift.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my mom who doesn't have Prime but wanted to see the show. By the time I got this and got it to her, two things happened... 1) The return window closed. 2) We found out this isn't programmed to play in the US. Something not included on the website when I bought it.

I recieve this dvd and I tried to watch it on Saturday and it is not playing. A message shows up and it says Playback only available in certain areas. I want a return for this unless you can tell me what's wrong with this dvd. This has never happen before.
