Lyman Lead Pot, Black

This thing is top notch, thick and well made cast iron for melting lead in. It shipped fast and I have no doubt it's going to be around long after I'm gone.

This iron pot was alot smaller then I expected but I tell you what it gets the job done.Its well build and very strong. I use the King Cooker out door propane gas stove with a grill attachment to place this pot on to melt my lead out doors. I dont believe in doing this kind of thing inside do to health reasons. This pot gets hot and stays hot on my propane set up it took as little as 4 minutes to melt 9 pounds of lead to liquid just be sure to were all saftey equipment while doing so.

While I do have a 10 pound capacity electric pot I wanted to get this as something I could use if I did not have power nearby. That said, I did not know what to expect of this as photos are always deceptive even if it is only my perception of the photo. Once it was unpackaged and used over a propane burner I found it to be wonderful. I have a Lyman ladle and using both of these together is the total package. I now wish I had not even purchased the electric as this work so well. I have not even used the electric yet because this works so well. you can put dirty lead in here and spoon of the top junk (is dross the right word?) and below is bright shiney lead. I love it. It is very portable and can be used over almost any flame, perhaps even a electric hotplate.

This is my first lead pot, and it works good for small casting projects. I bought an electric burner to use with this pot. I would not recommend using more than 5lbs at a time in this pot, unless it is already in small ingots or beads. It took about 1 hour to melt a 5lb ingot of lead in this pot standing upright. Good construction, and it does what it was designed for: so I give it 4/5 stars.

I am using this cast iron pot for melting aluminum which it does very well if you can reach that temperature. One thing to note is it is much smaller than it looks. The diameter of the pot is a little bit bigger than a can of soda and about half the height. But other than that it is a great little crucible. If you do plan on using this to melt aluminum I would also buy some tongs for pouring the metal into a mold. The temperature needed burns the gloved that I purchased which were meant for wood stoves.

At first I wasn’t sure about it I thought the handle was poor quality but I’ve made hundreds of bullets and it hasn’t changed a bit

The dimensions they give you are for the box. The pot is 3&5/8" id and 2&3/4" deep.

I got this to melt wheel weights and make spear fishing decoys. Was worried that it might be too small but found it to be more than large enough. Plenty of room for the dipper and heats up quickly. Used on an electric heat plate. Would tell anyone thinking of this item to get it.

Excellent the correct depth when you have got the lead melted either on an electric ring or gas hob

It's a bit smaller than I had imagined. Plenty strong enough. Came coated in some sort of oil.

Good little pot for heating on a Coleman stove

picture makes it look bigger , will not hold much lead, over priced
