GE Plug in Power Failure Night Light with Dusk to Dawn Sensor

As a nightlight, it puts out a lot of light, and as a power failure light, it also puts out quite a bit of light. When the power goes out, the brightness of the light gradually decreases. But the battery keeps it at least partially illuminated for several hours.

We put these all around our home. They work as a nightlight even when the power goes out. The ability to convert into a flashlight is an added bonus and I know will be handy sorting the next power outage.

My electricity goes often so I always keep this charged. It has a foldable plug right on the back of the light. Easily plugs into outlets. Flashlight feature is added bonus. The flashlight setting is bright enough that it has become my go-to flashlight. Great design and construction. Easy to turn on and off. Downside: mine doesn't hold a charge as a flashlight for more than a few minutes. But that's usually all I need - so I just recharge it when the flashlight feature stops working. Surprising downside - instructions say not to leave it charge overnight. It is supposed to be an emergency nightlight - so I assumed that you would just keep it plugged in all of the time. But even with features which are less than ideal - it is so handy, easy to use, and easy to charge - that I bought another one! It has 3 modes: flashlight, nightlight dim, and nightlight bright. Because the charger plus is foldable in the back of the unit - you don't have to fool around with charger cords or charger blocks or worry about misplacing them. Right now - I have a flashlight and spotlight with misplaced charger cords - so they are unusable. With the plug in the back of the unit -you never have to worry about losing the charger cord- - it is super-convenient to charge - which has made it my go- to flashlight! And it's flat and compact - the perfect size for a pocket or purse.

I needed to have this placed on an outlet near a door frame. The GE nightlight is just the right width though the door frame blocks the switch on the side of it, But also I found out I could put the nightlight upside down to remedy that. I intend to use the light so that it is not so dark in the small hallway area to the bathroom. Pro(s): The night light seems to have two different intensities. One brighter than the other. The night light part is basically a "Soft white" rather than "Cool white" which is good as Cool White would or could be too strong for a night light. The flashlight function is also good should there be a power outage or if you need to just be able to access a flashlight quickly and you just have to reach for the light on the power outlet. Con(s): Or potential con(s): The flashlight is essentially like that of a desk lamp. The light does not "Beam" a straight light (or not so much). Still it seems good enough for general use and definitely would be useful in a power outage. Another potential con is that if you plug in the item and try to set it to the higher-intensity night light it just defaults to the lower intensity night light. Still I would recommend this item. I have yet to use it on a longer term basis. I would not know how long lasting it is or how rugged it is. I will update my review according to my findings.

Bought 2 a few months ago. Very pleased with reliability. Did provide light during a recent electric power outage. I will buy more of these.

This was a lifesaver this morning when the power went out just as i was stepping out of the shower. Gave me enough light to see what I needed to see. Luckily the power came back on after a few minutes. I HIGHLY recommend this product, especially in the bathroom and bedroom.

I travel occasionally for work, and am always frustrated with the lack of night lights in hotels. With the black out curtains, waking up in the dark is a pain. I have to set my phone alarm in another area of the room so I don’t hit snooze. That means I stub a toe, bang my knee, or walk into a wall because no two hotel rooms are the same. The lights in the room are too bright to leave on to sleep, or are on a motion sensor/timer that turn off automagically. This nightlight is the perfect solution. I don’t have to carry batteries, it has multiple functions, and it’s slim and portable so it fits in my carry-on easily. I plug it in to the sockets near the bathroom counter, set the brightness I want, and go to sleep. The multi function will come in handy when leisure traveling with my husband. No more harsh mobile phone flashlight if I need to look for something while he’s sleeping. I haven’t had to test the charge longevity, but the auto sensor works great. The button doesn’t have a loud annoying click, and it feels well-made.

Love this little night light. I have purchased several for christmas gifts for the person who has everything. Perfect for plugging in to an outlet in the bathroom, kitchen etc. at night time. Comes on when you have a power failure - lasts a couple hours that way. It turns itself on and off as light level increases or wanes during the day. Love the fact you always have a charged flashlight when you need it. The light has a high and low beam. You can't read by the light but it keeps you from tripping over things or fumbling around in the dark.

I bought this for my older mom when her power had gone out and she had trouble moving around in the dark. I liked the features that it had because it would be charged in the light socket and then when there was a loss of power, it would activate and could be used as a light. Well, several months later, her power went off again! She called me the next morning to say that everything in the house was pitch black except this light that was coming from underneath her bedroom door. She had forgotten about this special little light we had plugged in for emergencies. This light turned on automatically once the power went out and she could take it out of the light socket and use it as a flashlight. She was so thankful and asked me to get her a second one. I highly recommend this product for anyone. I decided to buy one for myself as well. This product did exactly what it promised and made my mom feel much safer in her house.

Two weeks ago, we had a power failure that lasted for about 5 hours from late afternoon right through dinner. And that's the time we learned that our previous emergency light had finally given up the ghost after many years. Since another storm was predicted for this last week, I checked with Amazon, found the item we needed and ordered it right away. The two day delivery, made it possible for us to plug it in and let it charge up. Sure enough, yesterday the power went out again. But this time, out new emergency light came on and lit up the hallway. We saw how it could be used as a flashlight, but we preferred to leave it in the outlet. Also the power only was off for a couple of hours, and we could enjoy a hot meal that night. I'm really happy with my purchase.
