Most likely this unit would not be strong enough. It would also be a very expensive way to mount a light. Any Home store will have a proper box to mount your lite for a tenth the cost of this one and made out of metal so it will hold the weight. If you post a photo of the light you want to mount and one of the spot you want to mount it, could advise of specific products you should use to do the deed.
