Review: Great compact router with plenty of power and great build quality. Buy the package with extra bases! - I love this router. It is easy to think of it as a trim router, but like advertised, it is definitely better thought of as a compact router instead because of its versatility and power. I have been using it almost daily since it arrived and haven't had a single issue with it so far, and haven't come across many projects where I had to switch to a heavier router. I haven't done a lot of hardwood with it yet, but I have done quite a bit of work on 1/8 and 1/4" aluminum and it has chewed right through it when set on the proper speed and has a good bit in it. The biggest issue I have come across was of my own making, and that was that I bought the $99 basic tool option. My thinking was that I would probably be using it as a trim router and so I wouldn't need the plunge base. That was a big mistake because had I known just how solidly built and capable this thing was I would have just spent the extra money for the kit that included the plunge base, or better yet, just went ahead and spent the $199 for the kit with the router and all 3 bases /attachments, rather than having to order a plunge base separately for about $70 and $30-35 each for the tilt and offset bases. Plus the full kit also comes with dust ports and guide inserts etc, whereas I only got the tool and the standard base for the $99. That extra 39.99 or 99.99 for the upgrade packages is completely worth the money given the performance of this little powerhouse router.
Review: Small powerful and easy to hold. Wrenches to change bits nice and long! Sweeet! - Ok, I'm impressed with this compact router. Powerful and the latching collar makes it a breeze to set the depth quickly. Just be careful if you are mounting this thing in a router table. I made the mistake of unlatching the collar and turn it to see if it would fit the adjusting cage on my router table. The router slide off the collar and bounced off the floor. Didn't hurt the router just made me grimace with humility at such a stupid clumsy act on my part.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I trim my toe nails with it?**
A: Cringe. I have never used this router for that, but I did accidentally do that with a PC router on a router table. I don't recommend it at all. It trimmed the bone and flesh along with the fingernail.

**Q: can it be used for wood doors and frames for hinges**
A: Yes, but it is a much better used as router than a door or frame hinge.

**Q: What is the set of drill bits should I buy for this tool. I bought the MLCS 8377 15-Piece Router Bit Set with Carbide-Tipped 1/2-Inch Shanks and are n**
A: This is a 1/4" collet router. If you want to use 3/8" (new to me) or 1/2" get a 1/2" router. I've used routers for 45 years. Own a 1/4" and two 1/2" Here's a quick guide: 1/4" router is the most widely useful, can be held in one hand for quick work, your arm doesn't get tired as fast as with a larger router. This one is good for hinge guides and door installs, laminate trimming (laminate trim bits with bearings), round over of the edges of boards or plywood. Makes a neat no slivers edge, get 1/2", 3/4" diameter cove bits (these will make 1/4 and 3/8" from the edge curves) I get these with bearings as well. (If you want less of a curve, use less depth, the curve is not symmetrical--no one will care. This is what I usually grab my 1/4" router for (I've got a Porter Cable 1/4" that's 40 years old. Can't figure out how to take it apart to replace the cord. Rather than a $60 trip to the tool repair I'm thinking of this one, vacuum dust collection is a plus). Shelf dados, usually 1/2 to 3/4" wide, is best done with a more powerful 1/2" router, but you can get by with this with two passes (overlapping) of a 1/2" straight bit. Plunge routing: always use dust collection. Freehand scroll work: 1/8 or 1/4" round bits- I don't do this, others do. If you don't yet have a router, or a specific shop need, get a 1/4". If you think you need one of those $400 router tables: don't. Make your own or buy a jointer. Figuring out how to make a router table will teach you about making jigs (you can make a fence that has finer adjustment than the fanciest most expensive one on the market) Direction of working. There's a correct direction to running a router along the edge of a board. With plywood, pine, fir, spruce, etc.. going the correct way can rip out long splinters. If you first make a very shallow pass in the 'wrong' direction to knock off the edge, then go normal depth in the correct direction, you can avoid this. (I still don't know if I want this router or not. There were 6 opened and reclosed boxes (returns?) at the Home Depot. Why?)

**Q: can you set this up for a table router?**
A: This router is an excellent hand held router. All 3 of its different style bases are smaller than what can be mounted to any standard plates available to fit the two common 8x10 and 9x12 cutouts in router tables. Its depth adjustments are crude compared what most people expect of a table mounted router.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ CNC monster!
*by A***S on July 7, 2023*

I run this router in a CNC machine in my garage in Texas. It's 90-100 degrees in my garage right now, this machine runs for 5-9 hours at a time without complaints. It's a beast, 10-30k speeds eats wood for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have used it on pine, walnut, oak, mdf it doesn't care, it needs to eat. I have owned it for a while now and purchased replacement brushes, but have not needed to use them yet. I would not hesitate to purchase this router again if needed based on performance so far. Some of the jobs I do require extended run times that are far longer than the typical manual use of this router. It doesn't care, it keeps going. The Army Veteran plaque is like a 6 hours carve on the CNC with a change of bits around 3 hours in. I have dozens of them made. If you're hesitating on a purchase of this router because of longevity, don't be, it won't let you down.
