GREAT razor. You Get A Really Close Shave
It's a great traditional tried-and-tested double edge razor, and the Wilkinson Sword blade is incomparable. I usually shave with a straight razor, and I like that the best, it gives the closest, most uniform shave, and it costs nothing except the razor, strop, and a couple of stones for honing. But it take time to learn the skill of honing the blade, and sometimes the edge needs a touch up and you are in a hurry. Plus, you can't shave with a straight razor in the shower (you must have the mirror). So, for convenience this razor is great. The blades last a long time as they are stainless steel, and they are much CHEAPER than the rip-off cartridge razors with 3, 4, and now 5 blades--and there is NO PLASTIC to dispose of. NONE. You can even get double edge blades in WAX PAPER packaging. Having said all that, you can shave without hurting yourself immediately. With a little practice (like 2 or 3 shaves) you can get nearly as close a shave as you can with a straight razor. One thing I like about the straight razor is that the next day, as your beard starts to come back, the stubble feels really good, not harsh like with an electric or one of these plastic monstrosities. Well, this Wilkinson Sword blade does very close to the same thing. Even with a day's growth, my face still feels, well, nice and civilized. So for $16.00, you can try it out, and you won't be disappointed. Plus, unless you want to grow a beard, you have to shave every day. Trying out different methods is fun. This one is particularly fun. Get some good shave cream. Don't ever use that chemical crap they sell at the supermarket. Get the best, Proraso, from Italy, and get yourself a decent shaving brush, I recommend Omega professional. It's boar bristle, but actually, that is the best. Badger is expensive, overrated, and generally if you get Badger online, it is going to be fake, colored Boar. Just get the boar. I works better. Any kind of small bowl will work for the lather, but with the Proraso and the omega, you can basically wet your face, rinse the brush in hot water, squirt the Proraso into the brush and make the lather on your face. Proraso is the best, it smells good, softens and protects, and you can imagine you are in an Italian barbershop getting a barber shave and the go get some realy neapolitan pizza with that gorgeous dark haired girl who is flirting with you through the barbershop window. Have fun. You shave every single day. Make it an adventure.

A Hidden Gem in a Sea of Garbage
This razor is just the right thing for beginners and pros to enjoy. The handle is long enough for people with bigger hands (such as myself) to comfortably hold onto the handle or the end of the handle without feeling tired or annoyed from the typical small sized handles that other companies (such as Van Der Hagen) put onto their products/razors. However, the handle is just the right amount of length as well for smaller handed people to enjoy the shaving experience with it. The razor itself has a good weight to it, and will only need little to no pressure to glide well over your face and neck area. The butterfly opening is easy to open and close, and will not open accidentally until you open it. The handle features a beautiful elongated spiral pattern going vertically that provides extremely well grip for the user, and is something for the user to visually admire. The blades included are (believe it or not) extremely well made. Compared to Gillete Platinum (which are platinum coated) or even the Van Der Hagen (which are btter used for a refund or in the trash) blades that I have used, the blades provided, provided a smoother feel compared to either of the other blades. Note, that feedback highly depends on what your shave routine needs or your skin and facial hair type, but it doesn't hurt to try new things. This product worked well for me with my extremely sensitive skin, and with facial hair that is soft but on the thicker end of the spectrum. The shaving products, I use are the Shave Oil, Cremo Shaving Cream that's peppermint scented, and Harry's Post-Shave Balm. Either way, I feel because of the Teflon coating on the Wilkinson Sword blades, I could achieve a close shave with minimal irritation and/or bleeding. The razor itself is not aggressive and the blades are pretty forgiving. When using the right techniques and using products that work the best for you, this razor and it's blades make it almost impossible for you to cut yourself. I highly recommend this product from this company, they made a great product. I have used this product for two weeks since making this video in order to form an opinion and really try out the product to be able to provide a fair review.

Inexpensive and aggresive. Be patient and you'll be okay.
I was looking for something a little bit vicious or aggresive. This one had some reviews that mentioned that it was a prove to nic or cut you while other reviews said this was a terrific razor. I went with this one for the aggresiveness and inexpensiveness. It has cut me and I've bought a couple of septic pencils to deal with it. As I get used to using this razorthough I've become much more adept and careful. (It takes a little learning curve.) I mean really!? I would rather use a straight razor but don't have the patience and desire to be that awake to shave myself. A DE (doubel edge) razor is the BEST choice for ease and precision to use. Along with the cost of buying DE blades as apposed to electric or disposable multi-blade razors this is the clear choice.

A very good shaver, affordable price but with a somewhat dangerous design flaw
What's good: * The price is very reasonable. * The build quality is good. * Its a solid platform and presents the blade cutting edges at just the right angle and spacing. * The clamping mechanism is solid, feels very secure and should last a good long while. * It provides a very close, comfortable shave and doesn't scrape you if you need to press a bit harder in areas. * Good stem length and it provides good grip even in the shower. What's not good: * Not too much really, except for: * The folding doors are not long enough to cover the ends of the blade. They stick out either side by ~1.5 mm, which is a serious hazard once you clamp the blade down. The ends become very sharp and its easy to see how one might slice a finger or your face/leg if you're not careful about touching these sharp edges. This is also the case for the provided branded blades they include. Any double edge blades will have this issue with this razor. Overall, because its not easy to find a good, inexpensive double edge razor that provides a close shave, I've decided to keep this shaver. I will attempt to ALWAYS keep in mind these sharp blade ends are sticking out. I may even resort to grinding the ends of my blades enough to eliminate this hazard. If the designers fix this design flaw it would be a flat out, hands down recommended buy. Otherwise, let the buyer beware.

Well build razor for the price point. Also, I like the longer handle.
Well built. Satisfied. There is a mild rattle for the mechanism inside that opens / closes the top but that's fine for the price point. This is a good razor. Would buy again...or maybe not! Seems like it'll last a LONG time. :)

Wanted to like this razor, ended up irritating my face
I bought this razor for myself to try out a variety of the twist-to-open variety of double edge razors. I currently own the Merkur 34c, Muhle R41, and a couple others from Amazon as well. When I saw this twist-to-open variation by Gillette, especially the Wilkin Sword line being reputable, I decided to give it a try. Let's get to the good parts of the razor first. The handle is heavy and weighted, which feels solid to hold and the saying "let the weight of the razor" do the work will definitely apply here. The twist to open is satisfying and loading blades in is an easy task to do here with this razor. On top of that, when I was shaving, I didn't experience any clogging with this razor which is great. Now moving on to the NOT so great parts... I'm not sure what it is, but this is definitely not a razor I would recommend to beginners, or anyone with sensitive skin really. Keep in mind that I shave with the R41 and 34c just fine, with blades ranging from Astra SP's, Personna Blues, Nacets, etc. However, no matter what blade I load on this razor (including the three I've mentioned), the razor gives me a scraping feel on my face, without the slightest bit of pressure added. I definitely feel a lot of the "blade feel" and it just feels like I'm scraping my skin with this razor. Not sure if it's the blade exposure angle, or perhaps the doors that hold the razor blade isn't sturdy enough causing some flex; but it definitely is not a good feeling. Post-shave, I apply my alum block and can definitely feel stinging; way more than how I'd feel using my other razors (and that's usually little or close to none). A couple minutes after the shave, I also start getting bumps on my face, which never happened again with any other razors. Overall, I would definitely skip this razor. Also want to add as well that the Wilkinson Sword blades that it came with performed the worst out of the other three I've used. Definitely a skip for me, but good for those who make it work, especially for the price.

Excellent results after a bit patience and effort
This was my first safety razor, after using multi-blade razors for many long years. When I experienced difficulties in shaving areas very close to my nose, I thought this was because of the thickness of the butterfly razor and purchased a 3-piece one. However, this second one's short handle made shaving much more difficult. So, I returned to use the Wilkinson Sword. It took only a few trials to become an experienced and successful user. My skin is thankful for my choice. Now, shaving has become much cheaper and I will surely not return to a multi-blade razor. I think Wilkinson Sword is the sufficient one for the rest of my life :)

Good enough razor for the money. Safety razors much cheaper than carts. And you get a better shave
Good quality double edged

Amazing razor
This razor is my first DE razor - I bought a Merkur 23C after this and it is nowhere near as good as this for me. This gives a nice close shave but you need to use proper shaving cream eg Proraso or Tobs with a brush - my first experience with this razor was not pleasant using the Nivea stuff out of a can 🩸. The blade that comes with this is ok but the Astra and Feather blades work well. What is great about this compared to the Merkur 23C is the additional weight this has, that it’s easier to sense where the blade is, and it is efficient without being aggressive. You won’t be spending all day making pass after pass to get a nice close shave, I go wtg and xtg and the for my thicker chin hair just a bit atg. Far far closer than Mach 3 etc which I used to use before this. I also use the Proraso pre shave balm but that’s not strictly necessary. I use a aftershave balm as well for comfort. The only potential downside is I’m not sure how easy it would be to clean the razor thoroughly if that were to be needed in future - see pic for what I mean when the razor is open. If you’re on the fence about DE shaving can’t recommend this highly enough.

Wonderful shave
This razor replaces a 25 year old Gillette double edge razor that I have! The Gillette razor is only about 27g. This one is a relatively hefty 87g. And it shaves wonderfully. The weight helps painlessly glide through a week old beard with very light pressure. The shave is very gentle; even a tad gentler than the lightweight Gillette one I have been using all these years. It is possible to shave over pimples without cutting ourselves. I haven't tried the razor blades (there were 5 of them) that the razor had come with, so I don't have any opinion about them.
