## Description

Valvoline Import Multi-Vehicle ATF is the full-synthetic automatic transmission fluid that has been specially engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of most imports and domestics with automatic transmissions. Formulated with advanced additives to prevent the major causes of transmission breakdown, it’s designed to help prevent leaks, reduce wear and tear, and maximize performance – all for much longer than conventional fluids. It has improved thermal stability for longer fluid life, better viscosity stability for consistent transmission operation, and specific frictional enhancements for smooth gear engagements. Valvoline Import Multi-Vehicle ATF is suitable for a broad range of automatic transmissions including most Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Volvo, VW and other import and domestic vehicles. It’s specifically recommended for use in the following applications: BMW LT 71141 and ETL-7045E; Nissan/Infiniti Matic-D, Matic-K and Matic-J; Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III; Subaru ATF-HP; Hyundai/Kia SP-II and SP-III; and Toyota/Lexus Type T. For the many shifts and miles ahead, trust your transmission with Valvoline, the #1 automatic transmission fluid brand.

Review: As good or better than OEM - Works great for my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero. I used about 10 quarts in total which included flushing the system. So from empty it took about 5 quarts to get the level just right. Also, check the proper procedure for the level check for your vehicle because, for mine, the engine must be running to get the correct measurement. Since the fluid change I've noticed much smoother shifts and my shifter seems to slide more smoothly when shifting from P to R and D, etc. I'd say this stuff is on par with OEM fluids. If you need an SP-III compatible fluid for a great value I'd highly recommend this stuff.
Review: Can't complain about what you get for the price! - This fluid costs about half the price of other fluids, such as Redline D4 and Royal Purple, yet it's performance is well worth the money. In December 2012, I purchased a used 2001 Hyundai Elantra with 71K on it. This transmission requires Hyundai/Kia SPIII fluid or better (this fluid is rated for SPIII and SPIV applications, so it well exceeds the standard for this car). After some weird transmission codes and shifting I wasn't comfortable with, I decided to go ahead and service the transmission. It was past due and the fluid was showing it. I used this fluid and did three drain and fill cycles. After that, my performance did improve noticeably. I did not buy enough fluid this time though, so unfortunately I was stuck reusing some of the fluid from the second and third drain. I just serviced it again after another 30K, and it made a noticeable difference again. This time, I bought enough fluid that I didn't have to re-use what I drained out. Shifting is smooth as butter, almost undetectable now. I bought two cases this time and did two complete drain and fill cycles, putting only new fluid in each time. I changed the filter after the first cycle. I ran it through each gear in a "course" I drove around town after each fill to flush it good and get everything out of the torque converter. I had two quarts left over, so I drained two and put the two back in to get any leftovers that settled in the pan. I torqued the drain plug on my Elantra to 29 foot pounds (range for this transmission is 26-32). One more thing. As long as the fluid you buy is labeled as the correct type for your car, you are okay. Buying an aftermarket fluid will not eat the plastic parts inside your transmission. This is a myth that is floating around the web. While it may have been true in the older days, it isn't so much now since domestic and foreign automakers have parts sourced by the same suppliers in many cases.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this equivalent to any particular Dexron specification? Like Dexron III, IV, V, or VI? My 2000 Toyota Camry calls for Dexron III.**
A: From the Valvoline web site:Recommended for use in GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai and other imported vehiclesSuitable for use in:Ford MERCON® applicationsGM DEXRON®-II and DEXRON®-III applicationsBMW LT 71141 and ETL-7045E applicationsNissan/Infiniti Nissan ATF, Matic D, Matic K and Matic J applicationsMitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III applicationsSubaru ATF-HPHyundai/ KIA SP-II and SP-III applicationsToyota/Lexus Type T, T-III and T-IV applicationsHonda/Acura ATF-Z1 (except in CVTs) applicationsMercedes Benz NAG1 applicationsVolvo passenger car applications (except AW-1)Volkswagen/Audi TL52162

**Q: Why should i select this product over valv. maxlife for honda or toyota ? even valvoline recommends their maxlife over this every time.**
A: You should select this product if you have an older transmission that calls for Dexron II or III, like my 1999 Toyota A540E does. Valvoline's current Maxlife ATF is Dexron VI which GM claims is "backward compatible" with II/III but, at least in the specific case of Maxlife, is actually thinner than a real II/III fluid which can cause shifting issues. You might also notice that the instructions of some II/III-only products specifically warn against using them in transmissions that require VI. Having said that, a lot of people use Maxlife in II/III transmissions without issue. But if you happen to have a picky transmission that is very viscosity-sensitive, and changing to Maxlife causes problems for you, this might be a worth a try.

**Q: So is this better than the Castrol TransMax IMV? Full synthetic vs blend, correct??**
A: The key answer for Fully Synthetic vs Blend is specifications for your vehicle.

Your vehicle seals might not take well aggressive fully synthetic fluid. Rule is this : if you put full synthetic You MUST stick with it no change for mineral or blend it would cause leaks.

FLUSH if tranny isn't broken is recommended, you cannot damage transmission by flush if its done correctly. Flush actually can help. You change 100% of fluid volume vs 30-40%.
If recommended change the filter and clean.

**Q: Will this work on Subaru Forrester**
A: Check your owners manual. Its a great product and works on most import and domestic cars.I have been using this for my 97 acura and 2010 Hyundai. My acura has 278k and the Hyundai has 110k.Hope that helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply transmission fluid from a good brand name
*by J***S on July 15, 2026*

Simply transmission fluid from a good brand name, other than that I have no idea if it is better or worse than other brands. I used it when I changed the transmission fluid on my 2008 Toyota Matrix with 208,000 miles on it when I changed the Transmission filter and fluid so it should be good for another 100,000 miles
