It looks like a good quality collar and I haven't had any problems in the couple days I've used it. I previously had one of those extremely expensive Cabellas collars which was perfect for about a year till it stopped working properly. The only difference I can tell between that expensive one and this one is that this is obviously a "generic version" which may still work just as well but has lower grade plastic, doesn't look as expensive and doesn't come with an entire mini book set of instructions, lots of federal guideline warning flyers, and lengthy instructions and dvd.With that being said......so far this is a good collar. The instructions were obviously written by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language because of typical grammar errors and the use of the alphabet to label each section instead of numbers like we traditionally do here in America. They were, however, very easy to read and understand if you play with the remote as you read each section, to put visual action to the narrative portion. It took me, a 39 year old college educated house wife, about 25 minutes to open the box, check everything out, put the training modules in the collar, read and understand the instructions, do a trial run OFF of the pup and then finally put the collar on him and start the training.I like that I have the option to make a training correction with a sound (9 different tones and sounds to choose which is an upgrade over the expensive one), a vibration, or a shock aka static.Each vibration and shock selection has multiple levels from 1-9 so you can start low and gradually increase strength if you need to.My 6 month old goldendoodle pup responded very well to the sound correction but I did have to use the vibration correction when he was excited and began jumping on people. I started at level 1 and increased to 3 by the time I got a response. If I use it to train him when he's not excited he responds to vibration level 1. I haven't had to use the shock mode yet.The only thing I'm not crazy about is the remote. It could be a little more clear and concise. The collar and remote has a sleep function to save the charge but the remote goes to sleep mode WAY too fast. I start training and before I get the pup into position and ready the remote shuts off. This can be very frustrating and I haven't found a way to adjust it so I don't believe it's possible. If I'm wrong, I challenge customer service to find the way and notify me. Then I'll increase my star value and uptate my review. So....to avoid this very troublesome and annoying occurrence, I constantly push up a level then down a level to keep the remote on and then leave it where I want it when I'm ready to use a correction on the pup. I do admit this is a pretty big downfall for this product. If it won't stay on long enough to actually use it, I'm sure it's eventually going to make me sick of it due to the interruption in training. If it wasn't so hard to find an affordable collar that has a long transmitting distance, sound, vibration and shock correction and is also waterproof, I'd return it and get a different one.This unit also has a great set of training features to use for hunting or locating your dog when he's out of sight.One more thing I should mention, as another reviewer pointed out...... There are three units that you need to keep charged, the remote, vibrate/shock module and the sound module. The problem is the company only gives you one charging cord which only charges one of those items at a time. Huh??? What??? That makes no sense at all! I know I'm going to get frustrated having to constantly check each one then plug another one in, and then another. They should give you either a three way charger or three charging cords.Anyhow, it's a good collar with great features such as the ones I've mentioned previously and it's a good value. If the remote stayed on longer and it came with a 3 way charger or 3 charge cords I'd consider this a perfect buy.Who knows, maybe the company will send me 2 more charging cords and let me know how to keep the remote on longer. Then I can feel very comfortable changing my rating to 5 stars.I did NOT get paid or receive any compensation in any form to write this review.
