A Day at an Airport (Time Goes By)

I found one of these books in the Library "A Day in the City" and brought it home with in the day everyone of my children 20 years to 6 years had throughly scoured the book to find all the things that were recorded with in, It even entertained myself as I read it and searched the pictures with my youngest. I have since brought home "A Year on a Pirate Ship", "A year on a Farm" and "A Year at a Construction sight." I highly recommend this series of book for any family.

Lately, my two year old son is facinated by all kinds of transportation means from cars to ships to planes. We have taken a few trips with him since he was born. With this book, we could explain to him more on what is happening at an airport throughout the day. He gets very excited about it. With his limited vocabulary, he tells us, "airplane up, airplane down, airplane broken..." Hopefully, next time when we take a trip again, he can remember this book and observe more carefully at the airport.

These are fun books that allow the whole family to find funny, silly things. Everytime you read them you will find something new. Don't agree with the other reviewers about some things being inappropriate. I believe someone said there were two men fighting in this one and didn't want to expose their children to that. Well, welcome to the real world. Sit down, spend time with your family and have fun with this book.

Though it was shorter than I expected, it was still a good read, with a ton of things happening in every page. I especially liked the attention to detail, such as the dog that is being chased somewhere on every scene. The recommended activity that the book gives to children at the very end is actually quite creative, and I myself would recommend it to parents so as to develop your child's creativity and imagination.

I gave this to my 3 year old grandson who lives a plane ride away. At a resent visit his mother said he insists on us reading this to him every night. She informed me it was my turn! You know how kids are. Well, he's still searching for the clues like it was new to him but he thought it was new to me so he put on an act. But he loves it! Also bought A Year at a Construction Site. Both are his favorite books and he has hundreds!

I liked the farm book of this series so much, I ordered this one too for my 3 year old grandson. But this one stretches to fill up the day at the airport. There are circus performers, thieves, rain pouring through the roof--all sorts os silliness that doesn't really happen much art the airport. And there isn't enough real stuff that goes on. Where are the scenes in the hanger, the baggage sorting room, the security guards behind the scenes, and all the other stuff one wonders about. My grandson wasn't so interested in this book because it didn't show the things he really wanted to see more of.

My son loves this series of books "A Day at..." or "A Year at..." - this one is his absolute favorite. He loves seeing the same scene over the course of a day - what all the people are doing, how the airport functions. It's colorful, tells a good story, and is entertaining. As a parent, I love all of the conversations that we can have about each person, page, etc... HIGHLY SUGGEST BUYING THIS!

We read this book a couple times a day. I was a little concerned with the tone of the book at first, but my daughter doesn't seem to catch on to good vs bad people yet, so it's just fine. What las been exciting is teaching her about the clock and getting her to say the numbers. I picked this book up to read on a plane ride and it's still a hit a month later, yay!

Kind of a weird book. Constantly "stowaways" trying to sneak on to the plane, brawl caused by flight delay, a mugging in the airport gift shop and a dude who was so drunk he passed out on the seats for the whole day. Not sure all of this is so good in a kids' book.

Has made the experience something to look forward to and exciting rather than causing anxiety

A little bit of reading and a ton of detail to just get lost on for hours. The entire collection is wonderful.

My son's favorite one.

Unlike "A year at a farm" from the same series, which has in each page the same image of a farm from above (with some buildings opened up to show the inside) and deals with events that have to do with farming (as the title suggests), this one deals with a terminal, not an airport. In fact, had it been focussed on the whole terminal it wouldn't have been as bad, but this is mostly about the departure lounge (whose section takes up a whole page) with the occasional even happening on the runway (i.e. around the plane parked right outside). These event have little to do with aviation: guards being after stowaways (in 2 instances), a famous person arriving, workers splashing in puddles... It would have been way better for the image to be wider and include the actual runway and control tower. My 2 plane crazy boys really cannot care less about the acrobats juggling or a bunch of nuns singing while they wait to board...
