Great device
I bought this to replace my previous grigri that was starting to show its age. Works great just like the last one. Be sure to pay attention to rope size. 8.5mm to 11mm

I bought this after a friend of mine at the gym took a fall due to faulty belaying technique. The device adds an extra layer of safety and confidence when lead climbing. It's very easy to use! on top-rope it's just like using an ATC, and on lead the only thing I had to be shown how to do was put in slack quickly. (It locks up if you try to pull too much too fast, but there are methods that help prevent this.) In my opinion, this is much simpler to use than the grigri plus. Many of my friends at the gym who have the plus say they hate it and wish they had bought this one instead.

You need this in your kit , awesome gear !
This is an awesome product , im new to climbing, the grigri is easy to hook up and use , works great , get one , try it out just standing on the ground until you see how it works , just lean back and let your weight lock it in , i did this several times before ascending , also try it out descending on the ground , theres a fine line between some friction and NO friction , but , just let lever go and it will lock up again ,,,

Yup, it's a grigri.
Bought it for my wife when she was doing her lead certification. You all know what this is and it needs no review.This version may no longer be available by the time you read this review, replaced by the 2 and + models, one can take narrower rope and the other has a panic function (for newer climbers or those wwhobwant the added security) respectively.
