Best Pill Cutter
I'm an APRN, not that we use pill cutters at work, but I've used many of the typical single blade tab splitters over the past 30 years and have had to deal with this issue with hundreds of patients when dose is reduced. They work well for most tabs but small or very hard tabs can be problematic. I recently started a new unscored medication that was extremely problematic so I had to seek a solution. I have to press very hard compared to other pills but this device splits it perfectly with none of the powder splinterings. Given the amount of pressure I have to apply with this device, it's no wonder that my single blade was destroying it. I think this is probably the best pill splitter ever made. You're probably wondering like I was if it's worth the extra price given you can get one for like $4. For me, it was absolutely worth it. The only error you could experience is from not centering the pill correctly. Perhaps some elderly or anyone with dexterity issues may have more difficulty vs. a single blade where you just shove the pill to the top of the triangle. I have found it quite easy to center. I rarely leave reviews but this is a genius design that I feel is a real innovation for this class of product. I will be recommending this to my patients as well moving forward.

Built so well, aliens or archeologists will find it far in the future... but there is a 'flaw'
This thing is terrific engineering and good machining! It's a nice and simple design, little to go wrong, and highly effective and elegant even. The one 'downside' -- when you fumble around a little bit (you'll learn) to open it, be careful with the blades and the real 'fault' in my eyes is when in the open position (to cut), there is an opening in the back of the tray so IF you were to leave other pills in there that were already cut, they could fall out. This is just me being exacting... not much that could be done about it without adding complications which would be unwanted by me. All said, this is the ONLY pill cutter I will ever need for the rest of my life. It's not going to shatter, rust, or be destroyed in any other way! Someone knocked this one out of the park, I'd actually like to see what else this person (if a single person designed this) has designed.

Easier to make precise cuts, no crumbling
My dog needs a quarter of a pill of anti-seizure medicine (Keppra) three times a day. Before buying the EqualSplit, I had borrowed a couple of different pill splitters from my mom: one that can do multiple pills at once using a single blade pressed down from the top, and also the EquaDose, which is more similar to this EqualSplit cutter. The EqualSplit has both of the other cutters beat. I tried the multi-pill cutter first, but it caused a lot of crumbling of the pill. Not only is that bad medically with this medicine (it will be metabolized too quickly if it's crushed) it's just a pain in the butt to deal with the dust. Next we tried the EquaDose, and that was much better. Kind of fiddly to get the pill aligned in it so you can cut it straight down the middle; the rotational movement of the cutter means you have to put the pill at an angle to get the blades to make contact at the halfway point on each side. But with two blades coming at the pill from opposite directions, at least the pill didn't crumble like it did with the other one. Then, I bought the EqualSplit. It has all of the positive attributes of the EquaDose, and fewer drawbacks. The linear rather than rotational movement of the blades makes it much easier to line up the pill for an even cut. And the depth of the pocket is a little greater than the EquaDose, which means I can actually close the lid before cutting these large pills, even with the pills on their sides rather than flat. But I can also lay the pill flat with this cutter and still have confidence that I'm making a precise cut. With the EquaDose, I always cut across the shortest dimension of the pill, so that it wouldn't have to be at as much of an angle to get the halves to be even--which meant I couldn't close the lid when cutting these large pills, and had to use my other hand to keep pill pieces from flying. None of that is an issue with the EqualSplit. I never encountered this problem myself, but my mom has had the same problem with the EquaDose as some reviewers of that product have mentioned: fingers getting pinched when you squeeze it, on the side opposite the hinge. I would not think this cutter would cause similar problems, since it isn't a hinged movement. Overall I'm very pleased, having using this cutter once or twice a day for a week, after months of the same schedule with the EquaDose. It's less expensive, too!

Would be perfect if........
I need to cut a lot of pills for my two senior dogs. A recent addition is a huge oval horse-sized uncoated pill that I have to cut into fourths. My regular triangular cutter was useless, an uneven powdery mess and way too small to cut this pill. . So I researched different styles of pill cutters. This pill cutter looked promising. It was too small to hold the pill; but after a number of different attempts I found a way for it to work. Luckily, even if the entire pill isn't making contact with the blade, it cuts evenly. So it serves my initial need. But this may not be true of all pills this size and uncoated. What surprised me was the difficulty cutting a tiny diuretic pill. I need to use the point of a knife to get it into position, and it's still iffy. I get it to work, but it's much easier to use my old triangular cutter that is completely accurate for this cut. I know there were some reviews that said it was great for tiny pills, but so far I don't think it's worth the trouble. I'm happy that this cutter works so well on the large pill, although far from perfect. (only through trial and error - I almost gave up on the horse sized pill.) FYI, the pill measures 24mm long x 14mm wide. When I make the first cut with the pill on its side, I get a nice flat surface for cutting in fourths by standing it up on its side, not making complete contact with the blades and I'm unable to close the lid, but it still works. It's a nice sturdy piece of aluminum. It probably works great for most uses. But for my tiny and huge pills, it's a challenge, but workable.

I've been using pill splitters for years. They were cheap plastic junk that I bought at pharmacies that never really worked -- they would either crush the pill or split it unevenly most of the time. This splitter does neither. It works as a pill splitter should. Its very sharp metal edges (not cheap, thin razor metal) cut the pill evenly and cleanly most of the time. It is not 100% perfect every time but Very close to it depending on the size and the hardness of the pill. For most pills, it cuts them even and clean. It has never crushed or obliterated a pill. It is made of solid, coated metal with a thick plastic cover. And it's smaller than pharmacy splitters. It's a little pricey but well worth it if you take several pills a day and have to split some of them. By the way, I am not being compensated in any way to write this positive review -- like it should be.

Hands down-Best I ever used-I can split my small pills into qtrs. with this & straight edge tweezer
This is so great. It's sturdy, slides smoothly and is very precise. I get it to the width of the pill, then use a well made straight edge tweezers (something like this one : https://www.amazon.com/Camila-Solingen-Tipped-Tweezers-Straight/dp/B07B5GHCR1/ref=sr_1_6?crid=X0H4WF8N82Q&keywords=straight+edge+tweezer&qid=1684844101&sprefix=straight+edge+tweezer%2Caps%2C155&sr=8-6) to hold the pill in place. With other pill splitters they would crumble the pill into pieces and I couldn't take because I couldn't guesstimate the dose. This should be sold in drug stores everywhere! These days it is so nice to get a quality product at a fair price and that is what this one is. If you are on the fence, just buy it-you won't regret it.

Amazing. BUY IT NOW!
I have a medication I have to take twice a day, but the morning mg is different than the afternoon mg. I can snap it in half but whenever I used a" traditional pill cutter" to cut the half into a quarter, one quarter would be ok-ish and the other would crumble with lots of dust. Super inconvenient. I would snap the pill in half with my fingers because it was a cleaner cut than the traditional cutter. (plastic with a v shape and a blade). Pill usually would slide a bit so not accurate cuts most times. I could go on, but you're likely here because you are frustrated like I was. I have used this new amazing cutter to cut my pills into 1/4's and there is NO crumbly pieces. Doesn't slide around right before cutting, either. If you follow the directions and line it up, works PERFECTLY every time. I have not lost a single mg to dusting or crumbling. I'm super impressed. Only dust you really see is after several pills, and only if you are adjusting it while it is pinned in place right before cutting. Fast, easy, no stress when getting pills ready fro the week. Simple. There are some pictures of cut pills on here from other purchasers that show exactly how well this little cutter does. If you need your pills halved and/or quartered, I highly highly highly recommend it!

Solidly built. Still hard to split small pills.
Got this to try to help split one of our dogs' medications, which comes in a tiny aspirin-sized tablet. We have the other kind of splitter with the rubberized "V" shaped holder and the blade in the lid you close down. I've gotten to where, with careful alignment of the indentation in the pill, I can *usually* avoid crushing half the pill into powder. My wife still has more trouble though, so I thought I'd try this different design. It's a good idea. It's a solid aluminum block split into a base and a top section with opposing blades that slide apart laterally and can be gently moved against the sides of the pill until you squeeze to cut. The blades are sharp, and if you're careful and lucky, you can get a good split. Best results so far entail balancing the small pill on edge and trying to align the blades with the center indentation on the pill. But it's tricky lining up the pill and closing the blades down on it without things slipping out of place. And if you weren't careful, you could pinch yourself with the very sharp blades in the process (I like the clear guard you can slide into place before sliding the blades together). You may have better results, and I'm sure a larger pill would be easier to work with in any kind of pill splitter. Overall at this price (much less than similar designs on Amazon) I'm glad we have it because at the very least this thing is very unlikely to break, stores easily, and is pleasant to use. Three so-so stars

A quality Product
I am a retired Mechanical/ Electrical engineer, The Design is superb as are the components used, clearly a lot of time and effort has gone into the Design of this product. I have been using it a lot for cutting my pills in half, it is very accurate and effortless in doing so. Well Done and congratulations to all concerned

Months later and it's still going strong!
I've had a problem with so many other cutters! I've tried them all and this is definitely worth the money. Very sharp and cuts but doesn't crumble, even months later (usually others go blunt). As it's a sharp point and not a blade, it will last forever I hope!

Splits pills evenly
Splits pills evenly (you can even split pills into fractions other than halves if you want) and without crumbling. Much better than another pill splitter I tried. I've only tried one other pill splitter, but I doubt there is a better one than this on the market.
