Very powerful
I don’t often write reviews but I have to this time. This thing gets really hot fast. Very easy to use. Simple controls. In fact if I had anything negative to say it would be hypothetically it might overheat even though I’ve never seen evidence of that. Why I say that is I believe it has 7 heat levels and I use setting 2 to boil large pots of soup. When I first got it I set it to seven and it boiled crazy fast but the burner was so hot so fast it can cause things to stick which eventually would burn. Level 2 heats it a bit slower but you still need to stir a few times before it comes to a boil because stuff still sticks a little bit. I wonder how consistent this is across this line. I have considered mine is tuned too hot but now that I never go past level 2 it’s not a problem. I bought this after returning a different brand that took forever to boil and actually would sometimes never boil at all. This is the exact opposite. So if you want a very powerful burner knowing it may be too powerful on its highest setting, and manage it, this is for you. If you want something that doesn’t even get hot enough to burn anything buy something else.

heats fast
great little burner... only negative is the on off button is very easy to move so sometimes when you're wiping the counter it'll turn on, so I leave it unplugged. Also the sides of the hot plate get hot and stay hot for a while

Cusinax Hot Plate.
The hot plate worked great. It got hot very quickly and seems to be constructed very well.

Great idea, but I'm more concerned the more I use it. Good to offload work from fossil fuel stove.
Update 3/27/2022: Now it's dangerous. The thermostat knob occasionally doesn't work, and it fails CLOSED (meaning, it stays on 100% even when you set the knob to 2 out of 8). I thought my pancake burned prematurely, and when I took the pan (Teflon, which is dangerous when overheated above 400°F) off the burner, the cook plate was RED HOT. Why can't someone just make a good quality product anymore? Update 11/15/2019: The more I use this, the more concerned I get. First, it got so hot it melted the clear plastic button covering the little power bulb. I thought I'd just glue it back. But I noticed the entire casing gets REALLY HOT every time you use it. I measured 306° F (152° C) on the front face, and even 288° (142° C) on the silver knob you need to adjust the temperature! This is poor design. There should be some form of insulation between the heating element and the frame and knob of the hot plate. You can still adjust the temperature, you just don't want to grab and hold the knob. We've been very happy with this so far (as of 9/22/2019, we've had it about a month now). We use this at least 5 times a week instead of our gas stove so we can use our solar electricity instead of fossil fuel to steam eggs, make grilled cheese, saute or pan fry some dinner, etc. It's been very reliable so far. But there are a few things that we wish were improved (Manufacturer take note!). 1) There is an on/off knob on the left, and a temperature setting with an "off" position on the right. Why 2 "off" settings? Redundant. No need for left knob and it only causes confusion. 2) The "off" positions on EITHER knob don't even "click" into position, you just roll them to the end, and if your hand strikes the knob a little, it'll come back a bit from the off position. Make it CLICK off please!! 3) The left knob has an arrow on the top and if you rotate the knob so OFF is at the TOP, that knob is in the off position. The right knob has an arrow on the front of the burner to the left of the knob and if you roll that knob so the "off" position is on the LEFT side, that knob is off. If you have to have 2 knobs, BE CONSISTENT!! 4) The right knob has print on the face of the knob and the arrow to the left of the knob as described above. When you're standing over your pot, you have to kneel down so your eyes are at knob-level to read what setting you have. MAKE THE TEMPERATURE SCALE SO YOU CAN READ IT FROM STANDING POSITION! But even with these annoyances, which my wife and I both find minor, we love this burner and are only dinging it 1 star.

Overheats too easily and the shuts off
I’ve had this unit for a few years now. The unit does most of what a small hot plate should do. The problem with this unit is that when you have a larger pot on it, the unit overheats and then cycles between on and off every several minutes. It simply cannot maintain output with a larger pot on it. The design error is that it can deliver 1500W but its internal thermostat; the base needs to be redesigned. I recommend it only for small pots or pans.

Great little burner!! Gets super hot and mauntains constant temperature. Only issue, and it was stated in the manual, that it will burn off some oil left over from manufacturing but after 10 uses I can still smell some burnt chineezium coming off it. Hopefully that stops soon. If it weren't for that I'd rate 5 stars.

It’s a great product. First thought it’s too small for the pots I was intending to use and planned to return it. However I decided to keep it and use it for outdoor cooking. I was amazed how fast the food was cooked and ready to serve. Very light weight and super easy to clean. I’m glad that I kept it.

Good hotplate, however, the whole unit gets very hot on mid / high heat setting as the whole unit is made of metal and the heat transfers to knows etc. Otherwise, very solid! Just place somewhere you can cook then let it cool, or ensure you have oven mitts to move if moving before cool down.

Unit is excellent -- just wish i had know that one needs 1750 watts for a pressure canner as i went from 1300 to this 1500 thinking cool should work-- never thinking that one should google it the after 2 tries and new gaskets for the canner found the info-- would have been nice if presto had that info in their manual

After reading all the reviews, I purchased this one burner hot plate. Liked that it had different temperatures and that it was small. Used it almost every day for frying, homemade soups, boiling eggs, spaghetti. Then one day, it suddenly died, after about 8 months of use. Now I need to buy another one but am undecided as to what brand I should buy. Back to the reviews. Hope I find something.
